Is that a city tax on top of state reg?

That’s just state registration based on vehicle value.

oh no. $47 only for the plate, city tax, state reg fee....
Maybe this is why they call CT expensive?

Uh. About $150 each year for my 2002 in CA. So CT doesn’t seem so bad.

Bill not handy but IIRC $275 annual + plate fee ~ $55, + city road tax $104.70. But the plate fee is a 1x, the others are annual. Oh plus $20 bi annual inspections. $150 seems a bargain to me.

I just did the same thing a couple days ago. @180 as well. I think when I finally noticed it was 180081

    50 years = vintage
Just paid $168 for my 2000. What gives? I keep forgetting to switch to private from commercial since I got my shell. Not sure how much it saves but hopefully that’s not the $18 between us?
Holy shitballs Batman! $380/year?? Cali ain’t so bad after all eh?

, I actually have to look at the tag to know how much I really pay. I thought I recalled it was something like $147, so the 150 was just an estimate. I don’t have that kind of stuff in my head. Makes me less angry if I let it go.

F4D3ED0C-15AA-43FE-AFAF-F487DB204FE2.jpg So I stand corrected. However, my chopper is 55 years old and considered in the motorcycle community to be ‘vintage’ so :notsure:

PA it's 15 years for a Classic, 25 for Antique, and 76 or older for Vintage but you can provide your own period correct plate for Vintage.

So any 1st Gen could get classic plates here. Kicker is you are then limited to what you can actually use the vehicle for.

Well then, my ‘67 Mercedes is now antique! I don’t have to wait 5 more years for the distinction.

Yup. 230, 4 door, gas not diesel. But it’s sat for a long time and needs a full restoration.

PITA. But. My understanding is, Mercedes re-spec’s parts, so older years work on newer vehicles. So what we need is a researcher. Admittedly, while this was true in the 90’s, I’m not sure if it’s still the case. I definitely need to find a forum for that.

If it makes you feel any better, I wasn’t sure what I paid either, but had $168 in my head for some reason. Truth be told (I forgot until I checked my bank statement), I had completely forgot about paying my registration until I noticed the date-the day after it was due. I ultimately ended up paying $248 which included the (1 day) late fee.

One important detail on antique (45 years old) and classic (typically 20 years old, but there are states that require up to 40) vehicles, is that they must be all original; kept, restored, or in process of restoration. Any modifications or significant changes otherwise renders the vehicle ineligible to be classified as antique or classic. Vintage vehicles on the other hand can be chopped, slammed, whatever. The only prerequisite being the manufacture date of 1919-1930, which I'd imagine would be verified with the vin #

I'm not really sure to be honest, mileage would make sense since you aren't supposed to use it as a commuter.

You also aren't supposed to transport cargo so that's probably a little easier to enforce. Pretty much you can drive to as many shows/club meetings as you'd like. I'm assuming this is the case because normal registration fees are like $80/year and the classic/vintage are a lifetime up front of about $150.

Realistically I'm guessing it's something that's rarely cited unless you're already driving like an asshole.

CT is a great place to live so long as you are in prime earning years. Hartford Traffic is a mess, but no worse than Boston.
MA is apparently a better place to be old & sick.

Well gentlemen (and ladies), I'm officially a Turd Genner now. My dad has driven away with the '05 and my new '22 is in the driveway. Once 1st Gen, always 1st Gen though. My '05 will find its way back to me after dad is done with it, probably in around 5 years.

I'll pop my head into this section now and then, and I'll leave my '05 build thread up. I'm no hand model, but if I can be of help I'm but a tag away. It's been a slice. Hold the line. #1stGenStrong.
