I was looking for Apple CarPlay and better sound. It was also Christmas time, and my wife knew how I’d been pining. It is more than I wanted to spend, but sure seems worth it when it’s all done.

if I could go back, I would get a smaller unit that would fit more like stock, as the big screen was not a major goal.

But I was ready to bite during the worst phase of the supply chain shortages, and this is what I wound up with. Now a smaller screen would seem really small- when I drive the wife’s newer Tahoe, the screen looks little.

Still happy with the 10 inch or would the 9 be better? I still havent decided if I want to or if its worth the upgrade from my Pioneer 2550 that I have now.

@Tundra234 i personally am still enjoying the large screen, very visibly for my daughter in the back seat which was also goal…like @panicman stated it really makes thing sound that much better as a posed to a factory unit. It cost too much money I think but hell you only live once and can’t take the doe with ya so you might as well enjoy it while ya can lol

If I remember correctly I used the Metra kit …. #9 above. The 7600

Yes the Metra kit is what I have now with the current setup. It would be an easy swap from my current Pioneer to one of these. I would just have to reflash the Maestro. I would do the 7600 because of my phone mount. I also want to keep the dash kit to secure the ac control panel. The hard part is justifying if it's an upgrade that I need lol.

After driving a rental 2021 Tacoma for 8 months, the first thing I noticed when I got my Tundra back was the tiny Kenwood screen.
    Never thought about it before..
I'll upgrade to something like what @panicman has eventually.
It is just going to be a while...

The temptation is there. The shop is 5 miles away and he has the 9 and 10 inch. I would most likely go with the 9 with my phone mount being so close. I could take my 10 inch tablet and put it up there and see what it looks like.

Still very happy. If somebody has the 9” and has achieved a factory-fit appearance, that would be awesome. 9” is still big.

Yeah I don't think I'll worry about swapping it out right now. Nothing wrong with mine and I'm already getting the "what do you need that for?" BS. Maybe the black Friday or holiday season prices will be alot better.

Dues this unlock key pad to phone while moving? I hate making calls then have to stop to add a extension number.

I’ll try to remember to check.

I go by contacts, and only rarely type a number in. It is searchable while moving… which seems more risky than bringing up a numeric dialing menu.

Other than the obvious, are there any major differences between the 9 and 10 inch?

Best Buy has the 9 in stock, debating on pulling the trigger since they offer free install.

For anyone that has installed this unit themselves, how much wiring/splicing is involved with all the different harnesses? I just talked to Crutchfield and they don’t have any ready harnesses available for this unit.

It will depend on your speaker setup. If you only run RCAs to an amp and don’t have to connect speaker wire to the HU harness it could be as little as 5 or 6 splices to the Maestro harness.

Not for the wiring. You’ll need to connect the front speaker wires (4) to the HU harness if you want your dash speakers to work. Do you know if you have an OEM amp under the passenger seat?

They recommend replacing the stock speakers with 4 ohm so that you don't overheat the head unit.
