Access cab owners, what do you store in here?

I was wondering what everbody else stores in that compartment under the passenger side back seat.

In mine, I keep a rain jacket, a roll of duct tape, some cold weather gloves, a pair of work gloves, some wipes, and the charging cord for my DeWalt portable power.

Just curious what others use this little space for.

 

Two 8" Kicker shallow-mount subs in a Q-logic box.

 

DC's have a similar box. Tow strap, first aid kit, trailer hitch and pin, and a poncho.

 

I was not aware of that. I did not mean to discriminate.

Same here, some tools, MC tie downs (because you never know when you'll happen onto a good MC deal), a clean rag, and a few pairs of disposable gloves. Other than the tie downs, I've never needed any of the tools and other stuff in the cubby. I guess in the next 20 years maybe I'll need the tools. Knock on wood, I've never even had a flat tire on the Tundra, but I did include a nice breaker bar and the proper size metric socket for the lug nuts, in case I ever need to change a tire on the side of the road. Much nicer tool for breaking the lugs loose that the factory supplied tool.

 

I keep my tow straps in there along with some other items like my tire slime. Never had to use them in the tundra yet.

I have my subwoofer amp in there and 2 spare ignition coils. That's about all that'll fit there because of the amp but it's better than trying to tuck under the seat or leave in the backseat floorboard.
No pics of it though.

Both inside storage space's are full; the one behind drivers seat has factory jack plus rags while passenger side has small bungies,spare tie-down straps plus a blanket I even use the center console for my multi-meter and Cd's Yes, my truck is that old and so am I ; Seger, Waylon , and Wade Hayes


This thing saves my cab; tools , dunnage, more straps,receiver hitch, D-rings and a cargo net

Those yellow chains "save" this old man from crawling under the box to securley tighten anything down; they are connected to the factory anchors in the bed and the 2x4 dunnage "fits tight" but can be moved and the two small pieces are snug but movable...

 

Used to have all my tie down straps in there. Added a toolbox in the bed and moved everything there including the Jack and tire tools. Think mines actually empty right now. Would like to put a sub in there, but it’s a sub-optimal space for it.

Damn, that notched 2-by shelf under the toolbox is clever. I'd never thought to do that. I use the standard vertical sort notches on my truck, but having something higher up would be advantageous for sure...

 

The Tundra has a drop in liner and those notches are perfectly put right under where the toolbox is .... The liner has them further back also so if I wanted to "deck it" I could; that other 2x4 "hides" in my shed

That was the only problem installing my chain anchors I had to unbolt and move the toolbox to get at them ; Wife heard a few "words" but she stayed inside The bedliner tries to "hide access" to the factory brackets ...

What I do like about the 2x4 is when using the "net" I can wrap it around and then have double security, nothing pisses me off more than "flying objects" in a mirror

I never noticed how much that 2x4 "hides" what's under my toolbox...and will provide room in said toolbox

If I mount a few quick fist clamps to the bottom of the box my small shovel and axe can be out of site but secured..

I store ratchet straps of different sizes in mine. That and my OBD2 reader.

Sometimes if I have something of value, I’ll put it there temporarily rather than put in the open if my vehicle is broken into while I’m away.

 

This storage compartment… odd.

Well, I must be an idiot. When I bought my truck, it had a tool box in the bed with some D-rings on it. There are chains with hooks, and the hooks are hooked to those D-rings. When I first saw it, I thought "What do I need a chain with hooks on each end for? Oh well, I'll leave it. It looks kinda cool." After reading the quoted post, I went and checked those chains. Yup. They are connected to the anchor points in the bed underneath the toolbox. Learn something new everyday I suppose.

 

And just like that you have twice the knowledge since asking a single question

I still haven't installed the trim plate, but can get some pics potentially at lunchtime, possibly after, depending on how Monday goes. It's always weird on Mondays at my job.

This is the gist of what it looks like with the trim piece over it, and with the seat folded down, taken from other sources. A few of us AC guys have this enclosure. You lift the carpet up, remove the under-seat metal cage, bolt the enclosure in (it replaces the cage) after removing the OEM amp and reloc the cable(if you had one), and two small slits in the OEM carpet to facilitate the trim panel. Crutchfield sells the enclosure.

 

Gotta say though, I prefer this setup @Darkness posted a while back in a thread about removing the under-seat storage cage.

 

This one for a double cab was also really impressive.

 

Definitely looks nice, tasteful. Only reason I'm a fan of the under-seat is because I'm stuck in the city for a few more years. As with parking in any high-density area, you can't announce you have anything in your car, or your windows are getting smashed. I don't want to announce what I've got in the vehicle or make it blatantly obvious where it is.

It shocks me how many idiots (1) aren't smart like you, locking up their sidearm when visiting the city because lots of bars and churches won't let you carry in, and (2) leave their car sitting for hours and/or overnight with anything visible in their car. Doesn't even need to be valuable, just visible. I've seen people get their windows smashed out for having their gym bag with sweaty clothes and jock strap in it. I've seen people get their locks pried over an empty pack of smokes in the center console. Basic rule of thumb in any major city I've stayed - regardless the state - is "If it's visible and suggests it could be worth 25¢ or more to a crackhead, or there may be 'more where that came from', you don't leave it visible in the car when you walk away" else you may be paying $250+ for a new window.

Here lately, you can't even leave your hands-free key fobs out on the counter within 20-30ft of your car. There are tools that let them grab and extend the signal to unlock your door, start the car, and drive away. Kits can be found readily on the internet.

 

That one fits behind the seat. Wouldn't be visible. But it was a custom build. The one you went is very stealth too. I dig it.

 

Ah! I just assumed they left the seat out totally after, maybe for cargo/carry reasons or something. I was thinking "Man, if I were just going to ditch the rear seat, I'd probably build it way deeper, and drop some 15s or 18s in it, with a row of mids along the top at the window..."

Makes more sense now, and yeah, that's pretty sweet.
