    Two guys running a rear bumper+hitch delete. Thinking of doing this, but what do you guys think about it?

    I was thinking of doing the hitch delete but was advised that the hitch is what gives the rear most of its structural rigidity.

    I use the bumper to step on to get in the bed way too much to not have one. Especially when the tailgate is open. If you want to high jump every time, get a 3rd gen. :rofl:

    It looks clean for the most part. But then, cutting only that portion of the dove tail and not the rest makes me feel it’s incomplete. I’m assuming it’s the bedside support where they didn’t cut is at.

    Couldn’t count how many time people would want to rear end me. With the hitch, I feel it would definitely add the support.. without it, you have your tail gate and your bed.

    LOL, done that too many times and my shin sometimes smack the damn tail gate.

    I cut extra so I for sure wouldn’t rub, but here’s where I cut. Second picture I drilled a hole and put a bolt through to secure the bumper to the mount since I cut off the stock bolt hole.

    Looks like a good way to do it. I would like to keep the liner intact to block the fog lights if possible.

    @Millwood21

    This is what I did to keep the front caps in tact. Cut about 2 inches and also drilled a new hole to keep the caps secured, otherwise it’ll be extremely loose.

    Not a bad look but by removing the hitch you lose the ability to perform snatch recoveries etc. also i’d go ahead and just make the full, high clearance cut instead of the dove tail but that’s just me

    I'm almost there guys. I was just at discount tire today test fitting to see if i needed wheel spacers or not. Turns out i don't need them to clear my UCAs but i will probably buy some thin ones anyway just so i can be hub centric again.

    I just need to do the BMC and some other trimming, then I'll be back to discount on Tuesday to get them mounted up.

    They still look so small in the pic...

    Why not just mount them?

    For me the process went something like cut, check, cut again, beer, check, cut again, check, beer, rejoice

    I have hundreds of miles of driving to do in the next few days before I can get a chance to do the trimming and BMC. I don't want to be rubbing my tires and possibly cutting chunks off just because I got too impatient to wait. I saw a guy do that on his XJ a few years back. Shredded his new tires all to hell on the first day he had them.

    I mounted them, then had to take them off cause without doing all the PWM and BMC… I swear you’re clenching your butt hole when you go close to full lock LOL
