Ordered a '22 in March was told 6-8 months. Dealer had no new news as of a week ago. At what point does a person just wait for the '23?

    That point would be now.
If you are not in immediate need for a truck, I'd order a 2023 when available.
That will give them more time to work out the 2022 bugs and issues..

Welcome to your first post on the forum from Dallas...

Usually new model year vehicles start showing up in mid to late fall. So if your truck isn’t in by mid October you might very well be getting a 2023 model year.

I was told other than allocations there are no more 22s to order. 23s would start in August is what I was told

My Pro has a build date of 8/28. I’m told it’s a 22 but would be much happier if it ended up being a 23. With that build date I won’t get it until October

I don't even have a build date yet. Would hope that my dealer would be a little more forthright.

you do realize, that even pushing it a month or so to make it a 2023, its still the same vehicle as the august build?

its not going to magically have less issues or more issues by a month.

toyota's never really change resale value much from model years so much as the mileage and actually age from what i can tell :)

Buying a 23 would drop some of the first year stigma for resale even if in reality it is not more trouble free. I’d get a 23MY if there’s no rush.

I'm in the same boat. Ordered mine (to replace my stolen 20MY) in Mid March. Last follow-up a few days ago they said mine will be a 23MY, hopefully in Oct/Nov but they actually don't know.

At this rate I’m not a buyer until the 2024 model year.

I had a conversation with my salesperson last week when I dropped my truck for the ECU update. He said they're expecting to see the MY23 for allocations in Oct/Nov for all the regular models (SR, SR5, Limited, etc)

It came up when he let me take a peak at a 22 TRD Pro that was waiting for customer pick up. His best guess was that he wasn't expecting to see MY23 TRD Pros until April/May of 2023. Not that I'm interested in getting rid of my 22, but the TRD Pros sure are cool to look at. The solar octane really POPS in person. I wasn't a big fan of it in the press photos, but in real life...dang it's slick looking. lol

Aren't MSRP's going to go way up in 2023? I work at a dealer for another brand and we're seeing an average 5% increase on MSRP averaged out across all models.

Not sure if anyone but Toyota knows yet.

They will be in a tough spot this time next year as it is with interest rates going up, making it tough for average customers to buy cars or trucks. Plus we’re probably in a recession that will get worse before it gets better.

I wish the electric motor had double the hp it has now. that would be a nice ‘23 upgrade on the hybrids at least. You can sort of feel it kick in in sport mode but it isn’t all that strong to just stay in battery from a rolling start. That is, if you wanted to.

LOL, sadly there are probably enough dumb dumbs out there who would go for it to make it a viable option.

Maybe the 2029 model will get some upgrades. Probably not before that given Toyota’s lack of interest in the North American light duty truck market.
