Yes, but we don't have man buns, expensive coffee that tastes like crap, or idiots getting paid "a living wage" to spit in your burger while also messing up the simplest orders, so.... yeah. I'll take air that hurts my face. :p

Yeah, I’m not seeing the pit viper triangular head shape, either. Rat snakes have similar pattern but usually darker. agree though that the angle of the picture could be obscuring the head shape

Are we really questioning @Fotnot about the shape of his snake's head? :lalala:

I’m bald, so no man buns here. And I really don’t give a shit how anyone wears their hair. The samurai were pretty bad ass and they had man buns.
I drink expensive coffee that tastes amazing. It’s a small local brand made by a friend of ours - wood roasted and in the oldest Probat coffee roasting machine in the world.
And I don’t eat fast food, so I don’t run the risk of someone spitting on my burger whether they make $4/hr or $14/hr…and when I do go out to eat I treat the wait staff with respect and appreciation for what they do.

I also find it insane that the cost of living has increased something like 10x from when I was in HS while minimum wage has gone up only 1.5x, yet somehow people are supposed to still be able to make a start in this country off of that? And we bitch about raising minimum wage…

I could flip burgers or stock shelves 16 hours a week in HS and manage to put enough money away to pay for gas, insurance, and spending money to go out on dates to dinner and the movies. Working 40-hour weeks in the summer let me do that and put away enough cash to use for spending money the whole school year in college. I knew it wasn’t where I wanted to be my whole life, but it did give me enough to feel like I was actually making a dent in saving up for my future.

I had a job in college at a grocery store for two weeks… until my first paycheck. I worked 20 hours at minimum wage (despite two years’ experience doing the same job previously in a different state). After fed and state taxes, and mandatory union dues (even though I never actually joined the union), I received a fat $20. I walked into the managers office, ripped the check up and told him he could shove the union bullshit up his ass - I quit.

So, I kind of understand why people stop giving a fuck. And then some entitled ass-hole talks down to you through the cheap shitty mic at the drive through window (yeah - it sounds just as bad in the headset as it does at the speaker - we’re both living that pain, only the guy taking your order has to live it for 100-300 orders every day he works while you’ve only got to deal with it the one time per day you pull through the drive through). If you’re making so little that you’ll never have any hope of digging out or getting ahead, at some point it’s pretty hard to just not give a fuck any more. Is it right to spit in your food - hell no. But it’s not unfathomable that a few orders get messed up, and that I didn’t think about fucking with more than one person’s order after they were a dick at the window.

The whole situation is honestly not any different than the company store in the mining camp bullshit (or railroad camp, or road camp, or…) - we’ve just got different names on the stores and different companies running the sweatshops.

I’ll stop there. I like this place and the people here too much to dig any deeper into that turd - vacations are only fun when you can come here and banter with the locals...

I hear your points, and that is true for some, but you cannot deny that there are entitled asses out there looking for money for nothing. That said, Samurai are awesome. Pop up a man bun while cutting down Mongol invaders and I have no beef. However, pop up a man bun and start yelling that my words are violent and I'm terrible because I eat meat, and it's a whole different issues.

I worked those crappy jobs, also had enough of people's shit, but still had enough ethics (not sure if I'm picking the correct word here) to do a good job. I did that for years, busting my ass, unable to afford an education in a field I would enjoy. I struggled and fought with hard work to get out of that line of work. Because I understand that world way better than I'd like, I am the kindest and most patient customer, and I tip stupid good to show my appreciation. However, the lazy, slack jawed, apathetic teenage greaseball that provides shit service and makes a point of pointing out that their job can take tips... I don't tip well for that. I won't stiff anybody unless they are outright hostile or rude, but I will absolutely refuse to do a big tip for it. If I get just decent service, I tip well to encourage an upward trend, and because I know that an extra 20 bucks from a customer can make your day in that kind of a job. Expecting it, and exclaiming that it is owed when you haven't proven your worth at any point just boggles my brain. Then again, I was raised on performance and merit justifying rewards rather than rewards compelling performance.

I hold no animosity here, and am only sharing because I think that communication is a good thing. If people with differing views can share them in a civil manner, with a bit of humor and jabs here or there, I think we could solve a lot of problems. Everyone gets too tunnel visioned and assumes that anyone disagreeing is the devil these days. We can disagree and still be friends!

I'm not going into the crappy ass jobs I did as a kid like bucking 100lb alfalfa bales for a $1.45 an hour back in the day at 12 years old for 12+ hours a day..but after living in Japan for 5 years......I never saw anything about samurai having man buns. Only sharp ass blades. That's a Hollywood bs thing...like Eskimo's. Nobody uses that term in AK with the locals...just sayin

Man bun is the modern term, and is applied loosely, but the Samurai did have a few variations of top knots.

I've not seen any evidence of one. :spy:

But, if one did exist, I'm hoping that its owner would feel comfortable in publicly acknowledging its existence; after all this is a safe space! o_O

Ah, I see. Only trouble I see is that tattoos cost money, and all of us keep spending all of ours on stickers, shirts, lighters, patches, hats, bottles, detailing samplers, and knives with @ToyoMafia branding. Who in here really has enough to spend on a tattoo as well? I mean, besides our resident Ass-sets tycoon @22PlatWCP of course.
