This Chevrolet Corvette C7 ZR1 Puts A Tesla Model S Plaid In Its Place

My buddy always said his Z06 would totally waste his 2019 Model S at 60+ MPH punch, I'm not sure if it would beat the Plaid. (His current)
It says that is a 1000 HP ZR1 but I wonder what has been done to it. His Z06 is technically 800+ engine HP. The Plaid would walk away from it from a stop on the street for sure regardless.

Also, not a fan of the funny business of advertising bogus 0-60 times. Only watched the first couple minutes.

As he says, the Model S Plaid is the fastest production car, so why are they getting "creative" (read: Lying) with the math?

I want a Tesla as a commuter and for my shorter trips. I just can't afford it. I'm wishing them mass success so that they can streamline production and hopefully get those 300+ miles cars down into a more affordable range, and maybe at least use lube if you want the self driving option. I still need my truck for camping, kayaking, towing, etc., but I would not be sad to be in a Tesla for basic trips. Well, that's not true. I'd be sad because I couldn't get the nice lines of the S or the X and would have to drive the 3, and not hatin' on people that have them, but they're not my favorite looking cars.

I haven't seen much talk on here about other renewables like hydrogen cell vehicles. Yesterday I was reading some stuff on how California has H filling stations for these vehicles. So crazy how this technology just is on fast forwarding at this pace.

And he still did pretty damn well considering how much is into that drag car. That thing is bitchin’!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ about this guy lol. Plenty of dragy videos with them recorded; remember conditions have to be perfect for it to hit that time, but it’s been shown, recorded, proven. Tesla has not advertised any specs they haven’t backed up along with others.

The drag car was sweet. Tesla wins because you don't need to trailer it to the strip, though. :D

If they can do it on regular roads, why do they put the asterisk next to the 0-60 times with the note that the first foot of roll off has to be excluded to hit the advertised time?

You do seem to have the inside track to the Teslas after all. Everybody else waiting months on their cars, and you swapped yours in a few weeks. :monocle:

Performance models are delivered faster than long range models for some reason. My guess is cost.

Here’s what I found on a few websites:

In other words, the 1.99 seconds is the time from x-60 mph, because when the timer starts ticking, it already has some speed (about 6 mph, according to estimates). It would be 6-60 mph or something like that.

Right, so it's technically not true, as shown by Motortrend. The car is still the fastest production car, that I know of at least, so why do the whole sham of saying that?

They even put it in the best conditions and couldn't pull it off. Easy to get the right conditions for an EV, because the temp, elevations, etc. aren't a factor because there's no combustion going on. So, sticky track and proper tires should get the car rocking at it's best.

You said they've actually recorded sub 2 second times, though?

Elevation and temp do play a role though. It still takes energy to get to said speed

Yessir I’ll see if find the video.

Under Tesla’s conditions, Motor Trend went 0-60 in 1.98 seconds, running a quarter-mile in just 9.25 seconds”

*idk if they mean Tesla conditions not including the rollout

Yup, they mean the rollout. The Engineering Explained one lays out the times they could achieve in the first couple minutes. I didn't watch past that because that guy's voice gets to me. There's a certain crack in it that I can't take for long, which is unfortunate, because he lays things out really well.

I might give these a shot unless you guys have come up with something better? They're $200, covered with ppf, made in USA.

The only time I see an ICE beating a Plaid is when the ICE is a full-on, non-street-able dragster.

then, the ICE'ers pile on & says he beat the Plaid!!!....

then, the plaid turns on the A/C & cruises home with cooled seats, and awesome cruise control.

see, a plaid beats a Porsche Turbo S EVERY time...easily. and there ain't but a handful of street-able cars that can beat a Turbo S.

That is a great video - first time seeing a S Plaid against a 3!

I thought my M3 was fast  30mph trap speed difference, wild speed. Even more wild is that anyone with some cash can go buy a car that does 150mph in the 1/4. What a time we live in!
