Well I can tell you I put half a tank in the day before the tune. I went to Costco this morning and filled the truck up full. This evening it’s at quarter less lol You get the best Mpg’s at redline right?

My kit is just a simple one for now. The last 2 years really put a damper on what I wanted to do( take a medical/trauma class) and when I do that I plan on building a IFAK and larger trauma kit. But until I find a local class with openings I don’t wanna buy anything I don’t know how to properly use. (I don’t wanna do more harm than good trying to help myself or others) but I do agree with you 100%

I always tell people if you have some gauze pads and sticky stretchy wrap (coban) you’re set up for 80% of injuries in the field ha.

I keep PPE as well, clear eye pro, rubber gloves, breath mask for CPR, as well as a knife with glass breaker/seat belt/clothing cutter meant for paramedics.

I don’t know that civilians need much else. Your job is to stop the bleeding and keep them breathing until a pro gets there.

Advanced classes (from reportable sources) are ALWAYS awesome and empowering to gain a skill set from :)

Any of the less expensive brands (in place of 3M Coban) of sticky stretchy wrap you recommend?

The cheapest places I've found the good stuff at are large city medical supply stores (where that's all they sell) and large farm type stores such as IFA. When I was in Vegas, IFA was my go to for that stuff about 1/2 price of larger drug stores, targets, etc...

Amazon, Walmart, etc. not the feel good companies to support, but I just order whatever seems decent quality online most of the time.

IFA? - as in Intermountain Farmers Association? I don't think I have seen it there but to be honest never thought of looking for that kind of product at IFA. I was thinking about Amazon.

After 247 days of my 2014 DC being at the dealership, I bought her home today.
Cats were stolen on 11/15/2021, 8 months and 5 days to get all the parts to fix it...

Within 5 minutes at home, I was installing my Valhalla shields..

Before with OEM TRD skid plate.
Notice my brand new cats and pipes...

    After..

I also installed my Hotshots tail light my kids got me for Xmas..

    upload_2022-7-21_20-50-31.jpgupload_2022-7-21_20-51-6.jpg....

Fairly inexpensive to build your own kit that will accomplish the necessities; but as stated above, you'll mostly go through band-aids, aspirin, immodium and anti-itch cream and such...

It's easy but unnecessary to spend big $$ on kits; generally speaking you are better off to build you own kit using items that you've trained with and are comfortable using!!

Regarding gettin into to good trauma/first aid classes, etc... An inexpensive way of getting into one is to contact your local FD's Emergency Management folks and see if they'll let you slide into their next civilian class or to contact your local National Guard and see if they are hosting a trauma course any time soon. Both of these entities routinely host training (or know where it will be done locally) and can usually direct you to a point of contact to get set up. A lot of times these classes are paid for by FEMA or other govt programs through grants and such and expenses to you should be minimal.

Yes and other various feed/tack stores such as Farm and Tractor Supply, the Feed Store, etc. any of these places that have horse/dog supplies also seem to have some (not all) medical supplies at decent prices (the 3m wraps are one that comes to mind)... I think (although I've never owned one) horse owners use that sticky 3m colored wraps to wrap over the top of tape wrapped legs. I'm not sure, just guessing there. Anyhow, I've found those type of products at almost every feed store I've been at.

I stay away from Amazon on stuff like this only because large distributors sometimes purchase bulk supplies of items they are vending that may be aged, etc. and I've had some bad luck with it; it's not always that way, but the time to find out is not when pulling it out of the package to use in the field... Another example is batteries... I've given up on buying batteries (especially the CR2s and 123As from Amazon because I've ordered name brand stuff a few times and ended up w/"name brand" batteries that were removed from original packaging and put into large bulk boxes, etc. These always seem to have less life in them, and I end up changing them more frequently than I should have to.

Got a message from the body shop - once they got the outer stuff pulled off the front end, they found another $1100 worth of stuff needing fixed. New AC condenser, several additional brackets, and some additional body work needing to be done. That puts the total at nearly $5k for hitting that deer.

Waiting to hear on parts availability to know what the new timeline will be for getting my truck back…I’m jonesing already and it’s only been two days!

Nice. Yeah the fluid has to match temp with what you removed to occupy the same volume. I would probably still level the pan, and open the overfill drain at 105°F just to double check myself. I have just read too much about these transmissions being sensitive to the fluid level.

    Maybe we need a thread.

I've been poking around with the idea of building a kit, and have 50 items that may go in. I know - it's a lot, and I intend to cull that down or separate it into different kits. I don't really know what I'm doing at this point, thus the slow pace; I just jumped on the Red Cross and iFAK sites and used what they're doing as a starting point. Some of it is emergency preparedness like an emergency blanket, flashlight, crank powered radio; some of it is for illness or toxins like benadryl or hydrocortisone; and then there's FAK stuff like clotting gauze and a tourniquette. I'm researching items from TacMed, Amazon, and other places to ensure quality products at less rapey prices than a built kit.

The intention is to either have a quality kit and not spend the high dough you spend on iFAK, or decide it's just as well to buy the pre-built kit. Some of this stuff is sold in e.g. 12-packs when you only need 2 for a kit, and if there are more than 6 or 8 people with the intention of building kits, we could share costs a little. Still might not be worth the trouble, but if others are game to play, let's.

I worked mine hard yesterday towing from Boston to Niagara Falls. ~500 mile tow with full headwind for half of it Averaged 6.5mpg on that tank, our personal worst. Lol

This is only the second tow with the RAS, and after reworking the WDH a bit to offset no bags (they add height), I don't regret the decision at all. Bags are still installed, but they'll be remaining in their compressed state while I decide if I want the redundancy or not.

Thanks to @dirtydeeds for helping me decide on 5.29s despite only rolling on 33s. Thanks to @Genuine Cooling Systems for keeping my trans safe.
