    2.5" OME lift
Hi everyone, Ive enjoyed researching on here for the last week and a half. Tons of helpful threads and now Ive finally got eveything figured out and ordered. Now, I just need the final piece of the puzzle in the tires.
I Have a 2008 TRD regular cab with a cap on the back. Ive ordered the OME 2.5" full front and rear kit from toytec, but I had to get the Toytec progressive AAL, as the OME replacement leafs are backordered until who knows when. I have Method 18" 305's coming, +25m Offset.

So after talking with Toytec and my tire guy, mechanics etc. the 285/70/18 (33.7x11.2) seems like the best bet for biggest, yet relatively trouble free for this kit. The issue is, in our current state of affairs, my tire guy has almost NO inventory in that size and what is available, is wildly expensive. So my options are going Bigger or smaller.

Bigger sizes, Id be looking at a 295/70 (34.3x11.6) or a 285/75 (34.8x11.2) So my question is has anyone run these sizes on a similar setup?

If I have to go smaller Id be looking at a 275/70/18 (33.2x10.8) Theres tons of options in this size and less expensive. But obviously Id like as much ground clearance as possible, so Id prefer bigger If it will work. Thanks for any help!

295/70s and 285/75 in 18s both will work with that setup. OME tends to run higher lift than advertised, expect about 2.75 lift. If I had that setup I would be running 285/75s. I could actually fit that size now with my 2/1 lift. For reference, here is my truck with 275/70-18 and 2 inch lift front, 1 inch rear.

    Too many, but not enough....
I run a 2" front and 2.5" rear lift, so its close to what your going for. I am currently running stock size 32" in 275/65/18 and I plan on going up to 275/70/18, which i think is the perfect size for a non dedicated offroad rig that still sees offroading. Even with 32" i have never had a capability issue, albeit I do not do black diamond trails but I do everything else and hit all sorts of offshoots. Do you offroad regularly?
I think you should do 33" for a few reasons, they are cheaper, easy to find, wont hurt your mileage as much, lighter, will keep your speedo pretty accurate, wont have to trim up the truck at all and wont make the truck feel sluggish and reduce any potential for increased wear compared to bigger tires. IMO, the extra .5" of ground clearance you would see is not worth going 1 inch bigger when you factor in how much harder they are to find if you are in a pinch. You would already be at more than 3" of total lift with the 33" and your setup. You could always get a high clearance rear bumper and that will sort of mimic extra lift in certain situations. I think almost every truck uses 275/70/18 so you could find it at any auto place around the country.
All that said if you just want bigger tires because the extra capability is all you are looking for and dont really care about the other stuff then those listed tire sizes will all fit fine, at the worst you will maybe have to remove some mud flaps.

Thanks! It does look like there's some more room there to go up a size.

I do agree on the 33's as far as cost, availability and wear. Im getting quotes right now on both. The 285/75 looks great, but I do see the downsides there

I was running 315/70r17 ko2 (34.5”) with only 2.5” of lift up front. 0 offset wheel I had to push front bumper forward a little with coachbuilder bumper shims and I had to chop the body mount.

Check various brands and tire models within those sizes as well. Not all are true to size. Go to Discount Tires website, put in the 275/70R18 size and pic some tires to compare. Then you can see that they vary within that size. I can tell you that on stock suspension the minimal difference between the Ridge Grapplers and the Wildpeaks is enough that I had rubbing and another guy didn't with identical wheels and suspensions.

Yea....I had the 275/70 before the lift, fit great stock. Seriously, and still, considered going up to 285s but with the cost of tires, that mine are in good shape and will last years, and that I would be losing 1-1.5 MPG from where I am now....has me keeping the 33.4s. Last time I checked about a month ago it was going to cost close to 2 grand for nice brand 285/75s installed. Tires have gone up so much. If the cost was 1200ish, Id be riding higher.

Truth. I had Coopers before my current Wildpeaks, same size, and the Coopers were visibly smaller, height and width. Wildpeaks 33.4 tall fit just fine stock however. Not all tires of the same size are actually the same size lol.

Wheel offset affects the rub too. If you weren't on the same offset as mine we can't really compare rubbing with the same tires.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I think Im pretty much settled on the 295/70's. I dont drive the truck much anymore as I have a dedicated work truck, so the MPG shouldn't bother me too much. I think the extra tire will really help when im up north at my camp, on all the old rocky logging roads, washouts and mud ruts I'm constantly running into up there. Now Im just digging through the 295/70 threads and it seems like most people are able to get them in there with minimal modifications as long as the offset isnt too low. Ill post some pics in about a week or so when all the work is done!

Lift height on IFS trucks has nothing to do with what size tire you can fit. If your new tire won't fit at stock height, it won't fit with a lift. Because the moment you go out on those logging roads and washed out ruts, your tire is going to stuff up into the wheel well and be back to stock ride height anyway.

The only thing you can do to fit larger tires is either careful planning with wheel offset and suspension components, or start cutting, or both.

With the right wheels and such, it is possible to run 35s without having to cut anything. If you are lucky with the alignment. Otherwise you'll probably have to at least do a body mount chop.
