Lol. Read it again. I called you ‘dork’ immediately, then edited it because someone in here would look up what ‘dork’ means.

But… Ha!… this same group would think ‘dork’ a great compliment, so….

Was referring to the red buggy behind the nova in the pic. The Fremont plant that Tesla bought also used to make Toyota Corolla / Geo Prisms and Pontiac Vibes if I remember right.

That front grill tho— the easiest difference to spot between the 2nd and 2.5 gen is the front grill, plus the 2.5 has the hood scoop standard.

    I would buy a 2016-2018 crewmax quicksand if they didn't cost $50k+

I think T4R is better value really, and T4R is pricey AF.

Tundra price tag is what holds me back from 2016+ options. For $60k I can get a 4500 or 5500 diesel Ram. Or a slightly smaller gas powered, oversized people mover that can't really tow or haul more than I already can?

If I'm buying a big boy truck I want it to be able to tow and haul heavy stuff:

    upload_2022-7-18_22-0-1.jpg

Of course ^^ is not gonna be fun to drive around town and the Tundra will be more reasonable for things like that. And, if I were to add it all up, I might vomit at how much I've dumped into the '02. And diesels are a PIA to maintain.

Still, the priceiness of 2.5 gen is what holds me back the most. I mean, look what $30k gets you.

Yeah, my used 2019 was $50k last November. Low mileage certified Limited TRD CM with the sunroof and a bedrug lined paint matched camper shell. I like the truck and I needed a bigger more capable one. Didn’t want to live with a 3/4 ton. Plus, Toyota doesn’t make one.

The 4th gen in the driveway would be a sweet LT truck. But that one is spoken for...

If I sounded like I was dissing your 2019, my apologies. I wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything. I really like them (I like too many Toyota vehicles). But so far in life, despite buying way too many vehicles, I've never paid more than 30k and only once over 25k. For some reason I'm grumpy about purchase price but an idiot about buying stuff after.

Most expensive vehicle I’ve ever purchased. No rational reason other than shits expensive these days. I kept my last Tundra 16 years and spent only maintenance money on it and a few mods. If this one gives me 16 good years I’ll be pleased with my purchase. It’s the last of the subscription free non-boosted era.

Edit: it’s also my only car payment for now. I hate car payments.

I didn't read it that way, I doubt a late model owner would either. For me, I can't put 10-30K on top of 50K, so 30 sounds like a better starting point. But, these crazy SoCal guys and gals build some trucks with great parts and then have to move them, so I may just look for a built truck at a steal.

Tacoma is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve been in. I did find myself drinking rum straight outta the bottle with a grown man in a legit full Winnie the Pooh costume at 11 o’clock in the morning, but that’s another story.
No need to look it up, I remember that from elementary school. haha

I don’t do Insta, but I’ll be pleased if you report back with their results.

When mine failed, we used seat bolts cannibalized from various gen Tundras on the trail with me… which got me the 500+ miles home, then replaced those with OEM.

Mojave is taken by Jeep. Senora would likely be seen as misogynistic ("gonna go take my senora for a ride").

Riffing off other S variants, Sonoma is taken by GM. Sedona is taken by Kia. Shasta is too sassy sounding.

Playing off the "Tundra" thing, when I think of tundra, I think Alaska, Bona is a mountain in Alaska, also "good" in Spanish, and ends in A. Toyota Bona sounds solid.

Let's write to Toyota and make this happen :D

Maybe they can find a way to make it into a 1GT sized V8 hybrid :D

I mean, when you're smart about your buy-in price and your vehicle choice, you unlock the ability to be able to more-comfortably mod things.

I will never in a million years understand why someone would buy a 3rd gen, for example. But more than that, I'll never in a billion years understand why someone would buy a 3rd gen, then drop $10-20k in upgrades. The thought of having $60-70k in a truck is ... just, wow. I could buy so many way-more-fun vehicles for that kind of money, new and old, built to the hilt.

Yeah, for $60k cash, I’d go 5500 chassis cab and use it to earn. Completely different rig but the superior pickup for hard work. The 2017 hauls 10 horses just fine. And it’d be fun to build out the bed with a mini sleeper.

To your point, anyone from Massachusetts with a thick Bostonian accent would probably have issues for this exact reason. "Can I pahk my bonah in yah reah? I hate pahkin on the street!"

You guys are going about this all wrong. This new (right sized) model will obviously be the Tundra. The latest 3rd Gen creation will absolutely have to vacate the name and pick something else, and who gives a shit what they pick for that one?
