    Sorry I’m late to respond.

Anyway, I saw Mike hooked you up with all the general info. He’s an OG at this event, so I’d defer to him anyway.

As for a few of your specific questions:
Your 35’s with high clearance bumpers front and back; and knowing how to pick a line (do you, kinda?) will get you a lot of places, if it’s “only” super rutted and rocky. If you can choose lines through obstacles that keep your truck’s tires on the ground so you maintain traction, you’ll be good to go.

However, for trails with boulders or ledges, or tight approaches for which you cannot pick a diagonal line to avoid dropping both front tires into the same ditch, well, that’s where you getting a rear locker installed will let you go hella more places. Both you and @alb1k have mods that make your trucks (ooh-rah, skinny pedal!) very capable.

    Now the specifics:

    sliders and skids?
Yes, sure, get both of you’ve got extra money. But if you wanna know what order, I’d recommend sliders before armor on a 2WD. My reasoning is, as described above, it is unlikely you will hit trails with large boulders and steps until you have reached the limits of trails with big ruts and loose footing… So you’ll be more likely to damage your truck’s rockers then underbelly, based on my experience driving my 2WD.

I’m certain you can do this event with neither. You’ll have to be an adult though, and not go somewhere if it’s obvious (your buddies warn you) you should not.

    a wench?
You should definitely bring one if you think you will want one at San G. Most of the wenches that attend this event will be camping with the pirates what brought ‘em, and you don’t want to walk the plank the first time you attend. So if you’ve got one, bring her.

    on board compressor?
I love my onboard compressor, but you can grab one on scamazon or harbor freight for not much money. A really good portable that costs way less than most on-board is the one that IronMan4x4 sells. We’ve got one and it is bomb! If you think you’re going to do a lot of off road driving, or if you’re going to do an air locker, don’t skimp on a compressor.

But if you plan to install an E locker, and especially for this event, any portable compressor will be fine.

    solid shackle mounts and straps
Sounds like you’ve already got what you need in this category, good to go!

    a radio
The Baofeng handhelds work great, except when they don’t. I’ve got several and only one of them gets too hot to hold and also shocks me any time I press the transmit button. I’m telling you about it because it is a thing. But I juggled 4 of these to get me through weekend trips until I finally added a hard mounted radio to the truck. Again, if you don’t know what how much you will love this very expensive hobby, I would say grab a handheld and it will get you through San G. That said, as built as your truck is, I cannot imagine you are not going to fall in love with off-roading at this event, if you don’t already feel that way.

This would be an awesome group! And @des2mtn as well.

I thank you for the expansive response, all very helpful. I feel the need to mention, I'm not quite as green as I painted myself to be in that first post, or cry for help, if it were. Off-roading is not new to me, but San G, Climbing rocks, ledges, and the likes are. I've also never done the 'big group' thing. I’ve done a bit of forestry trails, but desert running in truck or on dirt bike is more my comfy zone, or the majority of where my off-road experience is based anyways. That being said, yes I believe I can see and pick lines well enough to get where I’m goin, :fingerscrossed: I am excited tho and would just rather ask the dumb questions now than be unprepared later tryin to figure out how to get my truck home, or whatever.
Actually got that figured out already. AAA Plus tows up to 100 miles and I’m closer than that to San G. Not that I’d want to have to use it, but good to know it’s an option.
Winch. I was asking about a winch. You funny tho.

This event is coming up fast and not much chatter going on regarding said event. Any reason why? I figured since there is probably less chance of getting cancelled this year that there would be more talk...am I wrong? LOL

I guess it’s because chatter would just be chatter. Everyone committed to attend has booked or found a spot to share. A lot of people probably set up side PM threads to plan trails or what-not. This isn’t organized to the extent that T2S is— here you gotta figure out who you want to hang out with, pick a route, and go. And Saturday is the big wheeling day… but really, only a 3/4 day because the party back at camp is the organized event. Food, raffle prizes, tomfoolery….

    :cheers::dancingbacon::bananadead::drunk:

TBF, I’m sure chatter will pick up as we get closer. Or now that you bumped the thread.

Lol. Anyone that wants to join me and Cruzer, you are all welcome! But this may consist of spotting and filming Cruze do stuff with his truck that we can’t (yet) do with ours. Hulk is pretty capable, so of course I’ll try to keep up, but I may wind up spotting. I agreed to this months ago and have my mind set to enjoy it!

Now, if dude is still unemployed and bails on me, I’ll happily lead a Conga line wherever the popular vote takes us.
