I've liked that song since I was a kid.

I never understand why Joe Satriani never comes up in these discussions.

My wife, who is much more knowledgeable with this music stuff, is a HUGE Satriani fan. She said she didn't include him because his music is instrumental - the whole thing is one giant solo.

This should be an argument for him.
    He IS a solo.

I can always listen to anything Floyd. There were 2 types of music I used to listen to during college when studying: Classical, and Floyd lol.

And I finally found The Division Bell new on vinyl a few months ago without having to pay over $150. Not an original pressing, but that doesn't matter to me. It's Floyd!

If you have a minute …You really need to check out this guys rendition. Not only nails the solo, keeps Rhythm and percussive going throughout. I’ve easily watched this 20 times.
    Impressive and a great cover.

I listened to Floyd painting the bedroom yesterday, and Collective Soul is probably my favorite group, but guitar solo is Sultans of Swing!

Whatever this forum told me to do
    Satriani in on another level.

I saw him in Houston. I knew nothing about him, went with some buddies.

Eric Johnson opened....he was good, but knew a small number of tricks.

then Satch came out...opened with Blue Dream...the dude was mind bendingly musical. I've been a fan ever since. ( not so much the new Sahara album)

I do put the Gilmore solo somewhere at the top. I especially like the one concert where he blended in Purple Rain solo. nice touch, as they both sound similar at points.

I stumbled across SRV in the mid 80's. He was sound checking for a show at Menard Park in Galveston.

I was cruising by on my Skyway BMX. It stopped me cold.

I was what? 14? and the guys music had me standing there for 15 minutes. very impactful. RIP SRV.

I’m a blues fan and I got to see 21 year old Christine Kingfish Ingram in concert. Amazing. His rendition of Jimi Hendrix “Hey Joe” is awesome. Never tried to add a link but will give it a try here. https://youtu.be/sHpuGSa1G5c

Because he’s not pop radio friendly.

Out of this world talent for sure - but ask 100 random people on the street to name 1 of his songs. I’m willing to bet the over under to name one correctly is 3.

I’ll agree with every part of this post except Mr Page being underrated. I feel his talents are fully recognized - yes, so many songs get overshadowed by the “big” hits / but I wouldn’t call him underrated. In fact the only “under” I associate with him is “underage”.

Listening to radio today - 3 intros to a song that are immediately identifiable to me

    Under Pressure
    Yellow Ledbetter
    Ace of Soades

Just the opening of those songs - you know exactly what someone is about to play.

How about greatest drum solo - Rock and Roll is probably the most recognizable - but Moby Dick probably the winner. As long as we can all agree it belongs to Bonzo we are good :)

Only what they have promoted on FB, I don't have the album yet. I really like Gary Moore and I think he has one of the best "guitar faces". I hadn't heard this one before, very cool!

Big Pink Floyd fan here. I saw Roger Waters last week in the round.

Stevie Ray was in a league of his own.

The Allman Brothers Whipping Post at Filmore East is another good one.

Too subjective.. Stevie Ray Vaughan (Crossfire), Hendrix (Woodstock Star Spangled Banner) and here's Dickey Betts closing out Filmore East....
