Track your Tundra when in "F" status on the train

Toyota tracking has me more than confused. I purchased mine on 6/21 and was told by the dealer they usually have them within 2 weeks. No show and I asked here to have it tracked. A couple of times it showed it still at the factory but finally it was shown to be on the train 7/6. About that time the dealer called and said he had updated ETA and it should arrive at his place in the time of 7/19-7/27. That seemed very logical based on the on train time. Now the truck is showing up on the recall list and the dealer said it was still at the factory. Just what is the status. Please, please look it up.

Sorry, been very hectic with work guys. Can 100% confirm that the hold up is for the cameras. If you're truck was on the train, it is almost certainly held up under that 30 day FI...I've seen only a handful sneak through. No one can be sure if it's going to take that 30 days.

 

@cdq85 do you mind looking to see if my truck ever arrived at the rail yard? I know it hit QC hold on Monday, but it had not arrived at the rail since departing on 6/9.

Respectfully, there's not going to be a point checking anything for a while. If you got hit with QC, none have been released from that status. I'll start screenshotting again once I start seeing them getting released.

 

I understand that. I was just trying to see if the truck had even made it to the rail yard to even be in line to be fixed. Can’t be fixed if it’s stuck between Texas and Indiana on the rail.

 

Is mine affected by the QC issues? Its an SR, so no front camera.

I’m not sure what to make of this. It says no issues, but was updated on 6/17, before these QC holds started. Is it possible that it is affected but not updated? Is it only updated when it is affected?

Mine also says last updated 6/17 but I have the recall notice on that page. You should be good.

 

I'm confused by that too. I get the same thing when I check, but my build date was 7/1. How did they check on 6/17 when it wasn't even built yet?

The 30 day wait is really frustrating. I get the buying landscape is different but it still sucks.

 

Here is some more info. Looks like if got your production date after 7/01, you're in the clear. The repair/software update is said to take only 45 minutes, but that number is for dealer. At the rail, could be entirely different.

Dude how do you do this? Do I need to download something specific on my computer to run it? Sorry I am a little computer challenged, so I am wondering if there is a simple step by steo to doing this, or if I need an IT degree, lol.

 

If you have Windows 10/11 instead of Linux you need to install WSL to run the commands.

It doesn't work for all vin's for some reason though. No info found for my own vin, 5TFJA5DB2NX042596, but it works for others I've tried.

My brother's keeping me up to date on my status though. ETA now 7/22 - 8/3 for mine. Had a build date of 7/1 so just barely squeaked past this round of recalls.

My dealer had no update on the QC hold. The truck has not been inspected yet and they are guessing it is just in line for the software update.

 

Found out the reason they do all these at the rail yard or port instead of the dealer is because most lemon laws are written start from when the manufacturer (Toyota) deliver the vehicle to the dealer. e.g. when it arrives at the dealer is considered delivery by the law, so the lemon law begins then, not when the consumer takes delivery.

Say there's a radar problem and the dealer has to fix it. The out of service time or radar failure count begins then. If the dealer has to fix it 2 more times after the consumer purchases it, under most lemon laws, the manufacturer has to buy it back. This info usually comes out in subpoena and strengthens the consumer's case in court.

Interesting fact I learned today about QC holds from my lawyer friend.

 

Interesting! I always wondered why not just ship it to the dealer, It would only open up their supply chain as they delegate the work. I guess its a lot more costly to deal with lemons.
