Ah, I’d suggest either the Jackery 240 or 160. Their both compact and a good price and the 240 will give you a bit more power if needed.

Well, it all depends on how long you wish to power it.,that fridge/freezer uses 33 - 55 watts. As an example, the Jackery 240 offers 240 watt hours. So it would run that particular fridge for about 4 to 7 hours depending on mode (240/55 to 240/33). Note, I would not suggest that particular power station to run a fridge but was just using it as an example.

I actually own that fridge in the smaller version and no freezer. It’s the Iceco JP30 and I use the EcoFlow River Pro (about 700 watt hours) and it powered the JP30 in eco mode for 3 days. Granted this was an unloaded test but it has been more than enough to power the fridge for every camping trip I’ve taken.

So in summary my personal opinion, I’d suggest no less than a 700 wh power station.

Edit: I like my EcoFlow River Pro very much and it is very good. However, I’d strongly look at the Bluetti for the sole reason they now use LiFePO4 batteries. The ExoFlow has a recharge capability of 800 and the Bluetti has a recharge quantity of 3500. They are all close in price but think the Bluetti is the best bang for the buck. I’m about to pull the trigger on the big Bluetti AC200Max

 

I don’t k ow what fridge I’m getting or if I’m going to but I do want one. So do you think Bluetti is best because the battery? Just heard jackery pop up often

 

Jackery makes a good power station and is reliable. I say Bluetti or for that matter Rock Pal because battery technology is advancing and those two companies have upgraded to LiFePO4 batteries. LiFePO4 Batteries are far superior to NCM batteries because their safer and can be recharged 3 to 4 times more than NCM. If you like Jackery, you’ll be happy with purchasing one. If you want a longer lasting battery, then go with a LiFePO4 unit.

To @BayRunner 's point, Jackery runs sales often.

I did a lot of reasearch when I first started getting interested in the portable power station market and Jackery was the clear winner. As also mentioned, battery technology has changed. I'm not sure if they are still the "top of the line", but I do know that they make a solid product.

I mainly use it to power an ICECO JP40 set at 37*. In Eco mode, it pulls about 35W and on MAX mode it pulls around 55W. Both of those numbers on DC. If you run the fridge on AC, you have some power loss in the conversion....both from the Jackery converting DC to AC, and again with the fridge converting it back from AC to DC. It doesn't seem like it would be much, but it adds up quickly. IIRC, my fridge pulls about 70W when running in MAX mode on AC power.

I also use the Jackery to charge cell phones and kids tablets more often than I thought I ever would. Another unexpected use is to charge up my portable jump starter. For some reason, it won't take a charge from the wall charger that I use for my cell phone. I'm guessing it is just too low of a wattage output, whereas the output from the Jackery will charge it with no problem.

As for your question about what size to get, I get about 2 days of fridge use on the Explorer 300 and about 4-5 days powering it from an Explorer 1000 with no supplemental charge. If you plan to do some driving in between and can give the Jackery a boost, then a smaller unit will do you just fine. There are a few advantages to the 300 over the smaller 160 and 240 models. 1st, you get two AC outlets; and 2nd, you get a USB-C port that is capable of 60W output. This is what I use to charge the portable jump starter when it needs to be topped off.

Whenever I get an email from Jackery about a promotion, I try to post it up here. 15% seems to be the standard and 30% seems to be about the max that they will do.

Thanks for the info. I just neee to make sure if I get a fridge to get the ones with the least amount of Wattage use. At first I was looking at the bigger series that use over 100 watts. Now that you and @BayRunner pointed the other fridges with way lower wattage I know what to research.

Sounds like you will have sunlight available, but you need to consider that it won't always be sunny. Since you mentioned cost isn't really a concern, I'd get the biggest battery possible....something like the Jackery Explorer 2000 pro. with a solar panel rated for continual outdoor use. That way, you don't run out of juice if you have a cloudy/rainy few days.

That said, just about all of these batteries will power off if not used for a period of time. It's a hard coded safety feature and I'm not aware of any that don't have it. Based on what you've said, it sounds like that device would be running constantly enough that it might not be a consideration. Would hate for you to spend the money and it not work. Would you have someone who could periodically check on the battery level and power on if needed?

I've heard good things about the LiFePO4 batteries. They supposedly support more cycles (discharge and recharge) than the older technology.

That said, I've never had an issue with any of my Jackery products. I've had 1 solar panel replaced under warranty and the customer service as well as turn-around time on the replacement were excellent. From a company and reliability standpoint, with no first hand experience with any of the competition, I'm pretty sold on Jackery. If you're close enough to check on it periodically, I don't think you can go wrong with the 2000 Pro.

I would not use the solar panel that is available from Jackery (or Bluetti) for your use though. I would look to get something that is designed to be outside 100% of the time.

and just look at getting some kind of adapter that feeds to an 8mm connector to go into the battery pack.

LOL. It's not that bad. The reality is that it likely won't be running 70W constantly. Go with a 2000W battery pack with an outdoor rated solar panel and just check on it periodically. You'll get a sense for how often you need to visit the storage location after a few trips. I'd guess that you'd be good to check it once a week initially. Then, maybe never...

I really like that the Jackery has pass-through charging, meaning you can power something while it recharges. I'm sure more and more companies are offering that, but Jackery was the only one who would stand behind that statement when I first started getting into it.

 

Yeah I still need to dig into it some more. I haven't researched for an outdoor panel that will work with that Bluetti.

I bought the jackery 300 a few months ago when they were like half off, 100w solar panel on top of the rtt keeps the arb50 fridge in the back running 24/7. Unless it’s 100+ degrees out and the fridge cycles a lot. Cool thing about the jackery is I installed 12v outlets in the bed and when running uses solar and 12v charging simultaneously. All depends on how you intend to use in your specific application. I was looking at the higher capacity models but man they cost a lot more you could DIY and get more capacity if your handy.

this setup is cheaper than a dual battery setup which I have in the Jeep.

 

100% agree. That is why I went the Jackery route initially. Had a dual battery in the 4Runner and then we had to upgrade the family hauler to something bigger. Sequoia was more expensive and got worse gas mileage, so we ended up with an Expedition. Near-zero offroad/aftermarket support for the Expedition, so I was looking at fabricating my own brackets or just going with something like a Jackery. Plus, I can swap it between vehicles easily. Win-win!

 

yeah I still have the Jeep, funding two 4x4 gas guzzlers is costly haha thinking about selling the Jeep but not there yet.
