Is it possible to add blind spot monitoring mirrors and have the BSM work on my 2020 SR5 Tundra with no BSM mirrors? I just bought some BSM mirrors, and would like to swap them out, but I'm not sure if I will need any other parts to make them work. Do they work with the tailgate camera, or the parking sensors?

They work with parking sensors, not the camera

Oh Boy!!! I don't have parking sensors, so I guess they will be up for sell again!!!

If they are anything like GM mirrors, the hookup wires will be in the door. Essentially the wiring harness is the same regardless of what mirrors you have, so there will likely be a few extra wires for heated/bsm light/ etc. I don’t know this verbatim for Toyota, much less on a 2022, but it stands to reason if you can confirm it somehow.

Roctane84, I understand that they should hookup regardless of what mirror, but if I don't have sensors to detect anything, I think it would be a mute point to swap out. I would have to add parking sensors, bumper covers with park sensor holes, etc. I don't think I'm ready for all that...

You don't need the parking sensors. What you need is a separate radar sensor that is specific to the BSM function.

JDR76, So these are separate of the parking sensors? I'll have to look under my truck to see what's there.. Thanks for the information!!!

Correct. BSM does not use the parking sensors, so you don't need them to have BSM. I don't know what it would cost to get the BSM radar sensors and install them but it may not be that easy.

Yeah, no doubt. I wasn’t entirely sure of what sensors you need/have already.

I just checked my truck to see if I had the sensors, and I didn't see anything there, so it's a no go for me. Do anyone need BSM mirrors? I will be posting them for sale soon. Removed from a 2021 TRD Sport.

You can still install them and everything will work fine with the exception of BSM.

My current mirrors work find. Just didn't have turn signal, or BSM. I thought it would be a easy swap. If it had the turn signal, I probably would have swap them.

Turn signal will work plug and play. No additional wiring is needed - all 2 gen Tundras have them wired in.

I have BSM, turn signal and power folding mirrors on my truck. I just put a little circle mirror over the BSM light and wired in the power folding feature.

Check the build link in my signature.
It can be done, but requires added bumper brackets, the radar units themselves, resin bumpers (if you have chrome), running new/added wiring with connectors, and installing the buzzer in addition to the new mirror glass.

I need to find someone that bought and installed these.
I know one of us ordered them but I can't remember who it was..

Contemplating getting a pair, but I'd like a review first..

I have them and installed. Can be swapped in a few minutes (without wiring) they also offer that option without turn signals.

I haven't done the wiring yet because I'm doing a lot more to the mirror than just this, I need a few hours to dedicate to doing it. Planning on doing it all in the next few weeks

I would also love to see a review. They feel like a $200 solution to a $4 stick-on problem.

I really like them! Exactly what I was wanting with all the visibility I was wanting. The smaller spotter mirror can be adjusted apart from the main mirror

Is it that much better than a stick on convex?

hard to say, those can some in different sizes and shapes. I'm sure it would work fine for most people but I also wanted turn signals.

Also the stick on ones are fixed for one view angle where the above can be adjusted

I need them for a different reason, see below.
I now have tiny little convex mirrors that work fine, but they are small.
Big enough to see a vehicle next to me.

God damn that pic is big...:eek2:

    26D8CB0C-A48A-4FE4-98CE-70212C595FB6_zps_d286208ec23a5bba0b14f7122486c9d4438a5e3c.jpg

    Oh, so it was you...:D
No vibrations any more than the stock mirrors?
I've pulled the mirrors twice over the years to tighten all the screws and bolts to stop them from shaking.

I have red muth signal mirrors but when I get my truck back I have Hotshots tails to install.
Then I will have an amber rear tail turn signal and there is no way I can have the mirror arrows red.
I like these better than buying amber Muths.

Between the Muth mirror install and trying 3 different LEDs for puddle lights, I've had my mirrors out more times than I'd like to remember.
If you're doing puddle lights, VLED is the way to go.
I tapped into the little floorboard light (replaced that as well) so they dim on and off.

Yeah, I've taken off me Tacoma's a few times and have VLED puddles on those. I just want to do the Tundra once and get it all done.

lol, I already have the VLED puddles in the garage for the tundra and will be wiring them to the cargo light panel (I like having a switch for them) since I don't run my lights (dome / maps / cargo etc) during the day. Will be adding VLED MAX pods (Front facing) for DRL's (Amber) when parking lights activated, along the the Mirror turn signal and front door speaker.

Might add front facing turn signals too with the VLED MAX PODS, but undecided at the moment

I have all the parts, just need the time.... when it's not 106 outside as well
