The suspension adjustments are happening automatically now. the car is telling us it is raising suspension before we go over a rough road.

    nice.

This is why I have an electric car. I love the speed of the bikes, but the safety of a car. Electric car gives you both!

Dropping a thought about the Tesla A/C

it's 102 ambient here in south Houston. 112 "feels like"

the A/C in the Model S is damn good. as good or better than the Tundra.

the A/C vents are way more adjustable & the cooled seat are mighty fine.

however..........this thing eats electrons in the Africa heat. I guess to power the a/c unit. our 12 mile round trip to Chuy's took 20 miles of range.

so that dropped me from 135MPG to 80mpg? give or take.

80mpg in the quickest hot rod...who da thunk it?

    that's all.....move along.

    Not yet.

Heat and very cold temps will always take more of the juice away to either cool or heat the battery pack. It should level out some when it’s at temp.
I don’t think it should have been that much of a drop, however. Was it a “quick” 12 mile trip?

exactly. quick trip means the system was working the entire time.

I guess the media has taught the masses to think that EV's are magical.

They function EXACTLY like any other form of motorized transportation.

they use energy. lots of it. yes. they are more efficient, but they use lots of energy during extreme conditions - as do our Tundras.

Curious to see how Ford and other traditional OEMs are gonna affordably source all these batteries. Tesla said on their Q1 earnings call that they are literally one step away from getting involved in the lithium mining business to ensure enough supply for themselves.

I'm surprised Tesla hasn't already entered the battery business. I'm sure it's pretty sticky with all of the rare earth metal mining. Certainly not a pretty industry, but needed to keep the car company alive.

    great minds...

I was just thinking.... how much longer can the EV's hide the nasty business of battery sourcing?

I see folks are starting to pound on the GM Hummer EV for being "inefficient".

One of my favorite things to do, while driving it, is playing tag with other Teslas on the highway.
