Hell yeah, that dumps just about where mine does, probably further back. It might be a little rowdy depending on the muffs you got, or at least with the gates open it will hahah

 

Someone knows how to hang a spare so you can check its pressure.

It’s still got decent rumble with the valves closed. I’ve yet to hear them open.

 

Have you driven it or just video clips of the noise?
I almost think mine in quieter at highway speeds vs in town even when I’m easy on the throttle. It’s not terrible doing 65 @2k rpm inside the cab

Dropped off the driveshaft yesterday and got it picked up today. It looks brand new. Labor was actually decently priced and the turnaround was amazing, but I'm still glad I attempted it myself first. They also painted and re-balanced the shaft - I can tell that a few weights have been removed/ moved around. In the past I've noticed a slight steering wheel vibration at times and I'm starting to wonder if this is going to make a difference. I've been attributing the vibration to a wheel in the front I know is bent, but we will see.

 

Were they able to replace the slip yoke seal? I’ve not seen any shops that could. looks amazing. Ballpark cost?

 

I know I should be commenting on the awesome exhaust, but did you undercoat the bed with a rust inhibitor? Maybe I should do that if I ever buy a new pickup in the future. Interesting.

 

I have OME 855 spings on the way and JBA uppers. Where can i get the Coil spring isolators to fit onto my Bilstein 5100s ? I am in Canada so firstgenoffroad will not work for me. Anyone have a model number ?

 

It was a quick job mostly to hide the rust it had.. it was a $200 bed. I’ve got stuff I have to do to it and I’ll properly paint is a nice thick black.

They did not, but I did not expect or ask them to. $80 to balance and $30 to remove/install both u-joints.

They recommend leaving the double cardan alone.

If mine goes, it'll be time for a Tom Woods driveshaft.

 

My slip yoke doubles as a rust prevention formula slinger under the bed. I pump the grease in, it slings it out.

 

Just throwing this out for anyone even though I know most aren't local. Tempting for me to buy these seats but mine are in pretty good shape. Plus these are captains chairs. Guy apparently also has both front doors with door panels. May be of use to @Tundra2 but I know he's been taking a break from the truck stuff lately. In crestwood KY.

 

Most likely, yes.

You may need to swap the ignitor for the airbag from the tacoma to the tundra airbag. So it matches the clock spring wiring.

Iirc either 2nd or 3rd gen tacoma steering wheels are the same as the later year tundra ones. Good source for black switches and air bag covers. Same with 4th gen 4runner (if amber backlighting is wanted).

 

Yeah, I remember watching a video of a guy changing out his Tundra wheel for a 3G Tacoma one?

These wheels for earlier gens, just a bit more trouble. I need to learn more about the innards.

In the meantime, I really need to fix my Tundra headlights cause the switch doesn't fire and my passenger side doesn't stay put, the adjusting ball pops out of it's socket. I think I need to supply parts from my OG OEM units for that bit and then troubleshoot. I d/c'd the harness and no change, not entirely unexpected there. I think the trouble is on the switching end, maybe ECU fried...

 

the cheap-o headlight housings on the sequoia had that problem, a little bit of heat and manipulating fixed it, closing the socket.

 

Like heat gun to the plastic to melt it so it retained the ball without ejection?

 

Yessir, might have used some heat shrink around the ball to help fill the gap, too. It was close to 10 years ago.

 

I've had that happen a few times. Sometimes you get lucky the filament breaks at the end and gets jostled around and then welds itself back together.

Sometimes it works for a day sometimes months.

 

i tried to get Tom woods to build me a 1 piece and they told me it was no go. The double cabs are too long. The off-road shop i use tried a couple other drive line shops local and nobody would do it. I just ended putting a new driveshaft in and carrier bearing drop kit. Chasing a never ending driveline vibe.

 

I wouldn't do a one piece drive shaft personally.

 

Makes sense why it’s a bad idea for our trucks once it was explained to me. I was willing to try it get rid of the driveline vibe I’ve been chasing ever since I bought the truck
