Well, maybe lifted truck will fare a little better in water as some posters here claimed to go saving lives during hurricane flooding, but check out this guy at around 0:55, that's pure genius!!

:threadjacked:maybe this is a little bit going off topic, but perhaps one might argue, thread recycling is good for forum environment? I don't know...:pout:

He's properly lifted and tactically breathing. I just want to know if the ducks are OK

Same could be said for lowered, to each his own. I like lifted (some) I also liked them dumped, neither ride quality is great, if I want good ride quality I drive the wife’s Lexus which happens to be great for groceries as well.

Seriously though, lifting a heavy duty pickup like that doesn’t seem to serve much purpose. But as long as it’s street legal and safe, it’s their truck and I guess they can do what they want to it. Besides, the truck accessories industry sure appreciates their business!

This thread is posted by the guy who wants to achieve maximum mpgs in a tundra..

More people buy tundras to lift, than to attain over 20 mpgs while driving slow on the highway.

Alot of people who buy tundras and tacomas are outdoor enthusiasts, myself included. We hunt, we hike, we fish, we camp, and we take the path less traveled. If you want mpgs (OP) then get a prius. Leave the lifted truck gang out of this. I also read you need new tires since yours are bald, might wanna check into that. Mud grips or all terrains might be out of your price range if fuel is eating your lunch that bad, I'm happy with my 12mpg.

My tundra is set up for off road and towing, it tows my 7k camper all over the country (5-6 mpg ) heavy machinery on the regular, hits the trails all the time, and my foot is heavy on the skinny pedal. 3.25in lift up front, 2in in the rear. (Still need sliders tho)

I don't usually make posts like this. But it's getting to be a little bit too much OP, given your post history.imagejpeg_1(3).jpg 20220430_172352.jpg 20220426_130458.jpg 20201228_152333.jpg

I am humbled by your keen observation skills, good sir! Your vehicle gets much broader use, contrary to mine.

I'll look into those tire suggestions. Thank you.

What RV Park was that taken at? We used to love going to Reunion Lake with the 5th wheel.

LT is a possibility in the future. We'll have to see, I'm about to invest alot of money getting power to my shop, insulated, more machinery, etc so truck mods will be on the back burner. And as far as selling it....I can't... I'm trying to get it to at least 500k. I'm gonna hit 250k by the end of the year easily, my driving is about to go way down since we moved and I won't be traveling for work anymore.

But I'm super stoked you like my truck! Thanks man

Hidden ponds RV park in Lake charles/sulphur. I was working a turnaround at Westlake refinery end of last year. Never going back to that refinery. They had an explosion, lots of people seriously injured, and the plant was piss poor in every regard to it. Not even a safety stand down or meeting afterwards. Long story.

People who say if you want good gas mileage get a Prius or if you care at all about gas mileage you’re dumb have never been far enough away from a gas station or civilization to realize just how much fuell range matters.

We’ve been in the middle of nowhere on multiple continents, rolling in on fumes, glad that we kept things light and minimal and maximized our fuel range.

And before you say just get some jerry cans, we had multiple, and guess what makes that jerry cans worth even more… When each one will get you 75-100 miles down the road instead of each one getting you 25-50…

Seriously, we're talking about America here, gas stations are literally everywhere. I've never filled up, and then drove until I was on fumes without seeing a single gas station from the time I filled up, till the time I was on empty.

Wow. Glad to hear you’re out of there.

I know where that park is… I set up shop running my business in Lake Charles for 3 months after Hurricane Laura, so hopped all around living in a 5th wheel from Breaux Bridge/ Laffy all the way to Lake Charles once they finally started getting power back.

    This is not true everywhere.

Fuel range is a consideration and concern for some of us. Not everyone drives point to point, and a trip to a gas station could be a long ways.

Time to get a transfer flow 46 gal tank and a bed mounted drag tank

I personally haven't seen any long stretches of road in the US with no gas stations (200-300 miles) but they could exist without my knowledge. Anywhere in particular you can think of where a gas station can't be easily accessed from a short detour or exit off the highway?

Excluding overlanding/camping, off road adventures, etc.

I wasn't intending for it to be compared to a "bro" lift and I certainly wasn't saying it's equivalent. I was answering the implied question in the thread title. That Taco is lifted, among other things, and it demonstrates the appeal of such mods.

My personal truck is a mild lift for slightly bigger tires with the sole purpose of added clearance for snow. Looking good is a bonus.

Motorcycles is a great point, on my Duc it’s always a problem on road trips. And in the Tundra it’s not nearly as problematic but I could certainly Map out a trip that I would have to consider where the gas stations are.

Lift laws in VA are strict, so I’m about as big as I can legally be, I’m nothing crazy like some of these trucks.

There is this lifted Ram in my town that has “2INPP” on his license plate.

I’m just making the joke before others have the chance. It’s great seeing people take pictures in traffic or pointing it out as we’re walking up to it in a parking lot not knowing it’s mine.

Well, I’m not going to exclude those activities, because some of us pretty much use our pick ups exclusively for that.

Spend some time hunting in the Missouri breaks of eastern Montana, the Salmon River country in Idaho, the Big Horn basin in Wyoming, and you will realize how much of a pain in the ass fuel management can be.

Because whoever built it that's what they wanted. The exact same thing could be said about pretty much every other modified vehicle.

To an extent - I agree with the sentiment.

BUT - ultimately a tastefully lifted truck a few inches can be both useful and practical - while not being useless in a daily driver set up.

Getting groceries/gas mileage - these things don’t generally go with full sized truck ownership. Can you have those options and a truck - sure - but small SUV does both better.

Gas mileage and any V8 are typically not going to be possible. Again - you can get decent mileage - but not great. Want better - go the turbo 6 cylinder- but then you have higher maintenance again in general.

Just about any mod you can think of - there’s that one person who thinks is more is always better - more power, more height, more chrome, more lights. Truth is there’s a point where the common man says enough and the extreme just keeps going. I tend to favor stopping things at the point of the common man. No need to go extreme for me - I’d rather flush money on a bunch of projects rather than just one extreme.
