No you mustn't. You'll never find a better time to buy these than now.

Think of it as an investment. You spend $420 now to avoid spending thousands later in possible frame damage.

If you romp on trucks hard enough the mount perches fail with stock mounts

I'll sleep over it. My truck is in very good shape but TBH I've not dived into the bay to check on the mounts. I'm currently staying away from hard/speedy off road due to future heavy add-ons and shock valving setup... Tough I bet when the time is right, those mount's will be a godsend.

Not that new. It was literally the second thing the OP said in his first comment.

I looked into it a bit and found out it does happen if you push your truck harder than a typical driver. Lift kits, driving fast off-road, rock crawling, etc, can cause your OEM mounts to fail which allows your engine to move around, exerting lots of forces in all directions which can bend and crack the frame, crack the exhaust manifolds, and cause many other expensive problems. You can see an example of such damage here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/5-7-motor-mounts.58606/#post-1597883

Here is another guy whose mounts failed and the result was his frame being slowly pulled together over time by his engine moving around: https://www.tundras.com/threads/5-7-motor-mounts.58606/#post-1599875

I plan on putting my old truck through its paces. And I really like doing upgrades but HATE doing repairs.

I receive DMs on Instagram almost daily from people with cracked frame perches and caved in frames around the perch towers due to blown out OEM mounts.

But yes this is typically a result of faster driving over rough terrain aka whoops, jumping, etc.

A street truck that only sees pavement or flat graded roads probably wont ever have damage like that.

However every truck can benefit from the increased throttle response and better traction to the tires that the upgraded motor mounts enable. I sell dozens of these kits to S and X runner owners who swear the motor mounts shave time off their strip and track runs.

Tech Info from the website, so I don't have to retype a novel here haha.

I will admit, the throttle response is snappier with the mounts. The lack of twist in the engine is great.

I wonder if there is a good engineering reason for motor mounts to be softer vs rigid.

Having a rigid mount is good for performance but bad for longevity. Having SOME give is always beneficial for longevity however having too much give turns your engine into a slide hammer.

I guess this is why Solid went with urethane and not delrin :)

It wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to use Delrin. Delrin is a great material for bushings that do a lot of moving, such as suspension arms. They are self lubricating and very tough. But for a motor mount that basically does not move, poly bushings are perfectly fine. They are harder than natural rubber but don't self lubricate, which is fine because motor mounts don't pivot. I guess you could use delrin for motor mounts, but it would be a waste to do so. No point really.

Delrin is more brittle, and adds to much "vibration". We actually experimented with Delrin back in like 2005-2006 and all the bushing flanges cracked off during off road use. We also tried it in lieu of poly bushings in the lower control arm mounts and the same thing happened. We also machined and ran some poly-carbonate (bullet resistant glass material) bushings too and those were very brittle. Instant cracks. So polyurethane once again was the best of all worlds. I have seen the polyurethane bushings in motor mounts I sold 15 years ago still in used in customers mounts. So they last a long time as long as they weren't melted by a custom exhaust header or damaged from bolts that were allowed to become lose.
