Striping Chrome Bumper Caps

Has anyone has success with stripping the chrome bumper ends? I thought maybe this would be a cheaper option than buying brand new ones.

 

Powder coat them with sand blasting. I found a place in denver for $148 for all 4. It's going down this week

 

Where at? I'm also in Denver. What color will it be?

Mile High Powder Coating. I'm going to pick up @COMiamiFan 's caps and we are doing it at the same time. They will quote you high but if you go in and sweet talk the hottie at the front desk she will keep knocking the price down

 

I take it you have to remove the bumpers first?

 

Yes. Rears are tough due to the angles and the limited access you have. Fronts are not, just tedious

There are threads in the DIY section that can walk you through it. I plan on starting tomorrow. I'll take photos and walk you through it if you're interested

Yep. The best part of that whole write up was how clean his truck is. Mine was caked in mud and dirt and not as "clean" as the OP's post LOL

 

It definitely is nice to not have dirt constantly falling in your face. Lol

 

It's easier than it looks trust me. Hardest part would be not having a bumper for a week or so. Extra vehicle helps

 

When it becomes a pain is when the sensor, fogs, etc. are caked in dirt. They do not release as easy as there is dirt in the housing and the clips do not open wide enough to get the sensors to disconnect. Or maybe that's just me that nothing ever goes right LOL

 

No no..... it's a common feeling that everything doesn't go right lol
