I know he's a consultant and has a legit history and all that, but in the age of the YouTube click race I can't help but think this would be the perfect little thing to do to get attention on a video. Easy to swap, doesn't get anyone in trouble but everyone will be taking about "the D" for a while.

I just don’t understand it because it’s not like they assemble that on the truck. Weird

but doesn’t surprise me honestly. Seems 22 quality is not as good as before.

Exactly, there's no way they are done by hand on the assembly line. This ain't a bently

Someone is having a joke in the factory or he did it himself.

Or I'm wrong but I'm going to go with the pessimistic view :)

It’s funny but that’s a thought that crossed my mind…
But then I had to shake that pessimistic view and remind myself that “hopefully he wouldn’t risk his reputation (assuming it’s good as I haven’t seen anything bad from him) for some clicks

Of all the automotive YouTube channels, his is the one I avoid at all costs. He has done some shady things in the past for clicks (claiming to have insider info that is either wrong or never materializes, for example), and every single one of his ENGINEER EXPLAINS titles just comes across as shameless click bait.

Question - It's my understanding that the Toyota stock product is the same. If my understanding is correct, does that also mean there's a 3-6 month delay for customer allocations (in my case Advanced Package) also? Thanks for the info.

Well I did this today smh. Apparently the dealers sell touch up paint pens so I’m hoping I can mask it somewhat when I’m able to swing by and pick one up.

Exactly what you'd expect from youtubers. A lot of talking about irrelevant stuff, a basic overview of the two trucks for a lot longer than needed and then a "it depends on your needs".

By the looks of it, the Chevy has better approach, departure and ground clearance, the Tundra made it over all obstacles but not as confidently as the Chevy...and if the Chevy gets stuck the tow hooks are present.

AMP has said they do not make those OEM electric steps, so I do not have any update on the lead time for those.

Yeah. It’s a tight fit with my wife’s car and the truck and I was trying to balance not hitting her door and carrying groceries in my other hand while getting out. Unfortunately I somehow activated the tailgate release on the remote in my pocket while getting out literally at the exact time the garage door was closing by the tailgate. Ended up smashing against it several times and honestly I’m surprised this was all that came from it.

Goes without saying but make sure you double check your truck has everything listed on your spec sheet you paid for. Houston Toyota dealers are requiring customers to pay for cat shields pre-installed yet I just realized my truck never actually had it put on when I purchased it. Pretty dumb of me to wait almost 3 months to check and realize but I’m glad I noticed it. Of course now I’m dealing with the run-around and excuses from them but I find it funny how they do a full inspection of the truck prior to handing the keys and not one person mentioned anything to me about it considering I was forced to pay for it.

They compare vehicles in the same conditions to provide the viewer some education. They offer opinions, but what I've seen is only fanboys that have an agenda of their own complain about their comparison tests.

Ok buddy, let's do this. It's a 24 minute and 59 second video. It's literally 12 minutes before the first "test" and I'll agree that they take both trucks through the same course, I have no problem with any of that. But the video is titled "ZR2 vs TRD Pro: which one wins?" And the question I answered here was "what was the verdict?"

There was no verdict, the 24:55 second mark has the only thing close to one which is "they're both really good pizza, it's all about preference."

If you want to go worship some YouTube truck guys that's cool man, I think it's weird but you do you. But don't pretend there was some revelation in this comparison or that we have some "agenda".

So what's the deal with Toyota's mid year change from Super White to Ice Cap? Is it the same color>? Still single stage paint?

Dude, the object of comparison videos is to present facts about the vehicle specs then show comparison testing. Very simple concept, Journalism 101.

    * This is what we're driving.
    * This is what happened driving them.

Very simple concept, the object is to present facts to the viewer for education.

Checked a few Monroney stickers for different vehicles and paint code for Ice Cap/Super White is the same 0040.
