I wanna open up this thread to have an open discussion to kinda see what everyone’s experience is with ordering a Tundra and your wait times in other states.

I ordered a 22 Tundra Platinum 6.5 back in March from a dealer in CT. I’ve checked in with them every 30 days to see what’s going on and they never have any progress or news for me.

Fast Forward to June and I ended up putting a second deposit at a separate dealer in Rhode Island because they seem to have had a few (although reserved) from what I’ve seen in the past few months. They promised to get it sooner since the other dealer doesn’t even seem to have an idea of when they’re going to get it. As of right now both dealers still don’t have any info for me. I’m wondering what’s the wait times everyone has faced or is currently facing in this or other states.

I know I’ve put down 2 deposits, but they’re both refundable so may the best dealer win.

Beginning of March I decided to check in on trading my 2015 Limited for a new 2022. Went to my local dealer on a Wednesday, they had no inventory but we looked at what they thought was being allocated. Started negotiations and they became very ignorant, condescending and insulting with trade in value. I walked out. Keep in mind I was trading in a 2015 limited with 45,000 miles, not a mark on it, interior was spotless also. They just lowballed the trade in value and I challenged them on it. They told me I didn’t know what I was talking about. I had already researched with KBB, Edmunds, and NADA. Could not believe their attitude. Next day went to dealer next town over, they had a 1794 on the lot, beautiful truck! Gave me top dollar on trade in and MSRP on the new one. Drove it home next day. Couldn’t be happier with it. I just was at the right place right time!!

What state if you don’t mind me asking?

So far the 2 dealers i put deposits down at have been professional and have offered a decent amount on my trade in which I’ve had other dealers low ball me and offer me 4-5K less

PA, the first dealer was lowballing by 8K, and adding 4K to the MSRP. I have over the years bought 6 vehicles from them, but they will never get another cent from me!!

Damn, PA dealers won’t even sell to me. I called and they won’t sell to me because I’m in CT

I “ordered” mine end of March. Dealership got an allocation mid April. Truck was built 4/29. Since then it has sat in TX at the factory and I am still waiting. No end in sight.

Again, I was very fortunate in this situation in that I live in their market area. They did ask me where I was from before we started the process so they were being selective. Could not be happier with the way they treated me, total opposite from the first location.

Sheeesh, I guess this would have me triggered, knowing it’s been ready for months. Mine hasn’t been allocated, probably not even thought of.

I'm in northeast PA and so far, knock on wood, my experience seems to be going great compared to some of the horror stories I'm reading on here. I wasn't picky on what I wanted though. Originally I wanted a CM SR5 with OR package in any color except white so they showed me the 3 they had allocated but not claimed yet and they all had so many options that the price was about the same as a limited. That made my requirements change to a Limited with OR. They only had 1 allocated that wasn't claimed and it also wasn't white so I put a deposit down on it.

That was June 17th and the truck had a scheduled build date of 7/27. Got a call last weekend to let me know the truck got bumped for some reason and was actually built 7/1 with the estimated delivery date now being 7/23 - 7/28.

Nice. I’m glad for all of you that have received your trucks already. This wait is irritating. Gonna get my truck by the time the 2023 model out

May 15ish - called dealer, they just got allocated a hybrid capstone. I said I would put a deposit on it if it was a plat or 1794. He traded with another dealer so I locked a 1794 down.
    Built June 6
Departed factory June 14th (later than toyota pipeline predicted)
CSX rail tracking has been very accurate/informative and it is arriving at the final port tomorrow June 9th. (much later than toyota pipeline predicted)
I expect anywhere from 3-14 days to be unloaded and trucked to dealer in New England. Obviously hoping for next week!

That’s interesting, that is where I had the terrible treatment and will never go back there for any reason. I had always been treated well before, as I said I have bought multiple vehicles from there. The salesman and sales manager both were very nasty to me. Don’t know why, I did nothing to deserve that sort of treatment. Good luck to you, I hope it works out, and you get your truck soon.

SW Missouri here. Placed a deposit 2/22/22 with a dealership in Springfield. As of 07/01/2022 they still had no allocation for me.

That said, I started calling around other dealerships back in late April. Had an allocation from another dealership in Joplin after roughly 2 weeks. Took delivery of the truck 07/01/2022. Great salesman, great communication. All around super impressed with the dealership and they will most definitely be getting my future business.

I bought 2 2022 tundra from same dealer here in SouthEast PA. Bennett Toyota. Bennett has 2 Toyota dealership so more chance of allocation. There is one here in Allentown and one in Lebanon. My first truck was allocated to Lebanon and the Allentown dealer went to pick it up for me.

First one, my white truck. I put deposit in December. Was allocated basically a week after deposit. Given a build date first week of January and truck was delivered and picked up first week of February. 2 months from deposit I had my truck.

The second 2022, black truck for my grandfather. I put deposit same day I picked up my white 2022. Got an allocation same day for a MGM TRD off-road package and build date first week March. Truck was built and on route to dealer. Mid March I get a text saying the truck was damaged in transit and they aren’t going to sell me it. So had to look for wait for another allocation. End of April I got an allocation for a black TRD sport. Build date mid May. And truck was delivered mid June. This one took 4 months only cause of the original allocation getting damaged.

Seems like it’s mainly the platinum trim that is hard to come by and so backed up to find allocation.

I put a deposit down with Peterson Toyota in Boise in mid-January. This will be the 5th vehicle I’ve purchased from them in the last 3 or 4 years, they’re good people so far. No mark-ups.

    My unconditional requirements were:
    -TRD OR
    -Crewmax
    -Lunar Rock or Army Green

I had strong preferences (but not required) for:
    -SR5
    -6.5 ft bed

My salesman sent me texts every two weeks letting me know what allocations looked like. A few times he suggested giving up on TRD OR or color but I couldn’t do it.

On 6/6 he sent a build sheet for a Limited hybrid TRD OR in Lunar Rock with a 6.5 ft bed. It was about $7k more than I was hoping for but not out of my budget so I committed to it. He said Toyota was telling him it had an 8/1 build date.

Yesterday, he texted and said Toyota changed the build date to the previous day (7/7) and that he’d let me know as soon as he could about freight times and expected delivery.

I don’t have anything but positive things to say about them. My salesman never went awol, never took more than a few hours to respond to my occasional texts, and sent those allocation updates promptly every two weeks or so. Looking forward to a fifth smooth buying experience when it arrives

    Deposit in January for:
Must have: iForcr Max, short bed, JBL, and Pano sunroof, super white or wind chill.
Wants but not required: TRD OR package.

Got a call first week of June that a Wind chill Limited was allocated with everything but the TRD Offroad package with an estimated build date of 8/1. Build date was moved up to July 6 and now it's on the rail. I'm in Tacoma/Puyallup Washington

Ontario Canada - deposit first week in January.

just got a call today from my salesman. Toyota apparently told the dealers for the first time what their expectations should be. My dealers was expecting 100 Tundras this year. They were just told 33 units this year. My new possible delivery is next summer. I’m also in the top 20 percent of orders fyi.

the reason I was given was because the tundra (and Corolla cross) have a lot of new parts. Their “new” parts suppliers aren’t as reliable so far. Some hybrid cars have etas (if nothing changes) of like 2027. I guess raw materials come from Ukraine and Russia and whatnot.

not good news but not much you can do. I also offered to accept a different model but was told that wouldn’t change things.

Yuck. my deposit was put down in December and I’ve heard little since. I sure wish we had not already sold our previous pickup. Our old Highlander is about to turn 400k. Sure hope it doesn’t let us down while we wait for a 1794.

In Ontario. 3rd week of December. Was told mid July roughly back in February. Now no idea. But at the top of the list. Call all over Canada. Might be able to get one from alberta beginning of August. I know a couple places had sr's and double cabs.(not sure which ones. I called EVERYWHERE) But most say 1 year or more wait time now.

Frederick, Maryland. Walked in to the local dealer mid-March to ask about a test drive. A month later in April they finally had a base SR5 hit the lot. I liked everything about it except the tow mirrors and seats. There was a $10K mark-up too which had me laughing. The GM saw me leaving and came over to eventually offer it at no mark-up. I declined but asked to be on a list for a crew-max TRD OR if I could get a similar deal.

A few weeks later in May an sr5 crew-max TRD OR lunar rock 5.5 was allocated. It was the most expensive possible sr5 build, so I'd be paying limited prices without those perks. Still the only thing i'd really be missing was cooled seats and there was less chrome to delete so I went with it. Except now they wanted $3K mark up. I walked away after offering 1K. I called a week later and it was still available. We settled on $1.7K over msrp. Not great but not terrible.

Build date was moved up from 6/20 to 6/13 and it should be at the rail head in Annapolis MD now. Hopefully it will be at the dealer this week, only a few days later than the 7/10 estimated.

I put a reserve down on a 2022 Blueprint Limited Tundra TRD OR Crewmax 5.5' with Lithia Toyota of Medford, OR back at the end of January. Could not get them to remove the initial markup above MSRP, but got them down to $2,500 from 5k. I still have not heard of any allocation being accepted as of this date. There has been zero movement in getting this particular truck in allocation with a build date available to me. Originally was promised the truck at end of July. Have had dealer try to offer me SR5 package of different color options many times in the last few months.

ive had my allocation reserve request entered into dealerdaily since beginning of may-2022. until the request is picked up by the system the dealer wont ask for a deposit until the allocation is selected.

been checking after the 5th and 15th of each month since allocations are processed on those days.

here is a copy of my allocation reserve request.

Mid June delivery date “here next week” kept getting pushed back by a week until today when I was told Canadian dealer allocations now pushed back a month to mid august .
