I'll wait for the technical explanation, but I can see one of these in my truck wired to a switch pro. I won't need a horn for a get the fuk out of here. Push a button and straight pipe is what I see, now.

I bet it’s not long before the DMV has infrared scans of exhaust going through the border patrol checkpoints. And then they just send you a ticket in the mail like those red light cameras.

Ok, yeah, I sound a bit paranoid.

I think it's straighter than you think. If you had a straw with an attached loop, I bet you could blow the same pressure.

You do not sound paranoid. But I think you over-estimate the ability of the DMV, DOT and the CHP. They will need it SMOG illegal to regulate, so privates can inspect them. At least for now.

My nova's cutouts are right after the h-pipe. Old school, where you have to park on parking blocks, climb under, and undo some wingnuts. Sounded good, but not as good as the purple hornies. Left em closed after i got those glasspacks.

Nope. It's called Dave's a dad and doesn't need or want the extra passengers.
    I totally get it.

Hell yeah, awesome one at that. The Corona is another long-forgotten piece of awesome. Along with the original Toyota SR5 sedan.

Toyota had a ton of really awesome older cars. I think Cash4Clunkers took a lot of those off the road, though.

My thoughts exactly. "Hmmm... how many of those are alt-aliases or just PHM pre-staging accounts? :monocle:

I just use the Rockauto.com website to see what size the fittings are and overall lengths. It's very handy, and accurate.

Interesting move on the shortbed conversion. Hmm. I could see that being even more capable on trail. If my bed got destroyed I could see some appeal with that approach. Bob the rear and keep the wheelbase as-is, just lose 2’ off the back. Could be an even better tow rig that way too, closer to the axle.

in this case it looks like a frame chop and presumably all the headache from that.

Through the perforations like a stock muffler. It’s fixed through chambers which in turn quiet it. Cutout open? Straight pipe

Pretty sure you figured it out by now, but thats a valve not a sensor
I have a cutout installed and had no problem with smog. Smog tests use your OBD2 data from O2 and A/F sensors, with the last one furthest downstream in the rear cat. This is why the cutouts are to be installed at the muffler, AFTER the cats.
It normally does, that's what caught my attention to ask to see it. My cutout is a Y that when switched open, dumps with a turndown, next to the muffler. I dig it. I like being able to turn the 'obnoxious' on or off. Keep in mind the exhaust still goes thru the cats, so it's not technically a true straight pipe like you'll find on old hot rods. But having a button in the cab to switch it...... now that's tactical.

Cutouts that completely bypass the muffler can be done in a way I’d be ok with it. But I HAVE to have it go back to the tail pipe. The sound of a leaking cutout drives me nuts once they age. You can’t hear it when it’s ran back into the tail pipe

The amount of water it barfed up when kicked open is hilarious. I wouldn't expect to see that much settled condensate so quickly.

Although I still have work to do, I'm getting pretty twitchy about not getting out. Desert is hot as hell for now. I may nail down that Mammoth trip with my buddy. If we do, I'll post up.

You are making sense. But, I would argue you are too concerned with the visual design, but the performance part? The exhaust will take the path of least resistance. Some exhaust will eddy into the rest of the muffler. And create pressure, moving the majority of the exhaust straight. The gate design seems to be pretty leak proof for the application.

EDIT: sorry, not a gate but a butterfly, but it's sealed in the exhaust.

You're telling me, this year is the least I've gotten out in the last couple. Play hard, pay the price. Truck should be buttoned up soon to go glamping next weekend, if all goes well there I might put an IDY trip in the books soon.
