Check Engine light on - EGR problem

Light came on recently, I noticed that this line has been chewed on. Is this only a covering or is it required to be airtight ?

 

Answering my own post. That appears to be a fuel line, unrelated to the EGR system.
The code P0441, P0455 is an EGR code, new gas cap did nothing. Reset the codes and it came back.

 

Well here is the temporary fix.

 

Did the code go away???

So far no code. Only 10-15 miles in though. It seemed to get a pending code very quickly before though so I think I'm in the clear.
