I wish I could blame it on the wife, but this was all me....long story...

    Anyways....

I have a lease I have to settle soon (probably trading it in), and I am looking for the cheapest way to repair this damage. It's just the passenger side front chrome bumper (sensors still work fine) and the plastic middle piece. I went to a body shop and was quoted over $1200, which seems a little excessive. I've been thinking about just going to the dealer and seeing what it would cost them to replace the two pieces. I was also wondering if perhaps a novice like me could order these parts and try to figure out how to install them.

I was just wondering if there is any advice you could offer me on what route you would take with regards to repairing this damage. I want it done right, so the next owner feels doesn't have to deal with it, but I'm all about saving money in todays environment.

    Suggestions/Input/Advice appreciated. TIA

(It's hard to see in the pics, but the chrome is noticeably dented at the bottom right. The plastic front bumper is buggered up at the bottom left. It looks worse in person)

Cheapest thing to do may be nothing at all. The damage is minor. You could have a “pre lease return” inspection to ask them to identify any issues that may need to be resolved to avoid penalty before turning it in. You could even ask what the penalty would be if they point out your damage. Otherwise the Chrome end caps should be plentiful around here. Surely someone would kick you one collecting dust post chrome delete.

    Thanks so much....

I doubt I will just turn in the car (I can actually make a few dollars on it on a trade in) and I hear USBANK is the absolute worst at dinging you for every scratch. They would probably charge me more than the body shop. I could also see a new dealer gouging me on the trade in value to increase margin. That's why I wanted to explore some more affordable options on repairing it. Other than those two things, it's in great shape with 18k miles.

If you’re trading it in and not turning it in, then whether the minor damage will affect the trade in price will be at the dealers discretion. Your lease terms will not apply.

Plastic, if not torn, can be bent back with heat gun, just be careful not to overheat it. And bumper cap you can buy aftermarket one on ebay for $80. Easy fix if you can wrench a bit.
Just checked ebay, so $80 is without sensor hole, and with sensor hole is $130

Definitely going to try to self fix. I'm not a great wrench, but I'm not horribly incompetent either. Beats the hell out of $1200 from the body shop. Thanks for all the help.

I haven't got bids on a trade in yet, it's just based on past experience, I've found dealerships will take advantage of every opportunity to increase margin by lowering trade in value. If I sell it privately, I want it to look as pristine as possible obviously for max value.

If I get in over my head, I'll probably just leave as is when I trade it in and hope it doesn't hurt too bad.
