anyone know if the front needs to be extended like the rear when doing a suspension lift? or is it just the rear that's too short?

 

Honestly, I've only heard of the rear brake lines having an issue with extended travel. That being said, if you're planning on adding a lot of extended travel with new UCAs, etc up front...extending the front brake lines won't hurt you. It's not much extra work to do all 4 corners since you'll have the bleed & adjust the system anyways by doing the rears.

I noticed instructions for the Kings front end removes the ball joint and tie rod versus the spindle and loosening the LCA. Wouldn't this also be the easier route to adding spacer lifts?

I am very interested in the TRD lift. I am not sure if I will be able to justify the cost in the end but I will be watching closely. I think I read somewhere that a landcruiser spring may lift the rear. Not 100% on that.

 

Has anyone heard from Fox? Also, has anyone looked into ordering the fox shocks that come on the pro?

 

People have reached out to Fox. Sounds like they're thinking they might start working on a kit by the end of the year. So probably won't have anything available for at least another 8-12 months would be my guess.

 

Pretty sure the front is the same as the older Gen's other than a spacer on the lower mount. As far as the backend goes looks to be the same upper and lower mount so Fox probably already makes a shock that will work just need to figure out overall length, travel and collapsed lengths

 

Case in point OME/ARB offering their Tundra BP-51 Kit fits 07-22 and just updated it by adding rear coils to the kit to fit the 22/3rd Gen same kit just with the addition of rear coils

 

Is a spacer lift ok if not doing any heavy off roading? 90% of my driving will be on blacktop and the 10% that I do off roading will just be low speed stuff through rutted farm fields and old logging roads on the property. Just want a small lift to fit 35's for a bit more ground clearance.

 

There’s allot goin on in that pic you don’t use on a 2022. I also just spoke to arb and they aren’t releasing 2022 specific components let alone kits for a while. Mudify might be setting up for 2022 components and some things are getting crossed over when they shouldn’t.one example is Their list of part numbers for that kit is linking to leaf springs. Not coils.

 

“Looks to be the same” and “pretty sure” make for a dangerous sentence. Unless a manufacturer is 110% stating they have components that work from a previous gen on the 2022s, they most likely do not.

 

You don't use the Shackles, U-Bolts and leaf spring bushings just the rear coils instead. Rear coils on 22 Tundra are the same as LC which I have found to be the same as I'm running on my Gen 2 Sequoia, I just ordered fox shocks with the specs I wanted and had Kurt at DC shocks tune them to my needs and I changed the ends to fit the Sequoia, it wasn't rocket science i don't think it will be with the 22 Tundra either. Guys are already using Fox Coilovers from Gen 2 for the front of Gen 3 and making a spacer for the lower mount so again not much has changed in the front. Manufactures might change the valving a little bit but the shock bodies themselves are going to be the same.

 

Well yeah if you’re gonna rebuild, change the ends, and retune the shock it fits lol.
+1 on the LC coils tho.

 

I'm just saying I think what we will all learn in the very near future although the part numbers will change it's going to be the same parts used in previous Gens again not rocket science and it's just the way Toyota. Hell you can fit the same rear coils in Land Cruisers, FJ's, 4 Runners, Sequoias different years, different Gens and there ALL the same just different spring rates.

Do the coilover from Gen 2 fit Gen 3? From what I've heard, the gen 2 coilovers was longer than gen 3, this is what I was told from toytec when I called to see when they planning on releasing coilovers. They currently use spacer lift on their third gen. I've talked to a guy on instagram who did the Fox coilover conversion, and he said the front coilover he used, possibly same one adventure motors used, are from Ford F150.

The top hats Fox uses are all the same apparently, the holes for the tundra are there already, so they just press the studs out and put into the correct hole. For the bottom part of shock, just requires some machined sleeves. He got a 4" lift out of it.

The top of the shocks are kind of the same.. but the length, lower mount and geometry is WAY off. Old parts do not work front or back. The guys at adventure motors (who designed my lift kit) use fox front shocks with custom lower units and tuning and rear shocks from i believe the 4in lift landcruiser kit.

80 series Land Cruiser Springs are in mine. 2.5” lift with a Pro Comp 1” spacer on top of that.

Curious what your truck stance looks like. I’m fighting weight in the rear and thinking about 2.5” spring lift added to a spacer to keep it level when loaded

 

Icon is offering a sale of 15% off everything, including the new 3rd Gen Tundra kits, through 7/31. I pulled the trigger on the Icon Stage 4 kit with the new front coilovers, extended length rear shocks, sway bar drop links & new UCAs. With the sale price, it saved me nearly $500 on parts. Only bummer thing is the estimated wait time is 8-12 weeks for the complete kit.

I'm looking forward to getting a legit suspension lift on the truck. I've pretty well maxed out what I'm willing to do with my cheap spacer lift from the 2.5 Gen Tundra.

Plus, with the adjustable front coilovers, I'll be able to easily correct any front rake that appears when I get my CBI bumper & winch installed. Which coincidently is also 10 weeks out. 2-3 months from now, I'm expecting my truck to look & handle very different from today. I'm pretty stoked. Slowly but surely...it's all coming together.

 

How much of a lift/level does this kit give you?

 

It’s adjustable from 2” - 3.5” but the main thing I’m most excited for is the increased articulation. The kit increases travel by 40% over stock. I turned around on a trail recently because I started to worry about the lack of articulation. I’d like to hit some trails in Moab this fall and this should be perfect.

Been working with Battle Born Offroad here in Southern Nevada for the suspension lift. We had a bit of a correction on the Icon Stage 4 Kit order time. After talking to the Icon rep, it's looking more like 12-16 weeks for the lead time. I knew it would be awhile. Glad to have it on order now.

The good news about the lead time is that CBI is still sticking to 10 weeks for the Baja Bumper. I've already got the winch on hand. I'll order my desired lights once the bumper gets here. That means, I should be able to get all the weight on the front before the Icon kit arrives. That will ensure we know how to setup the front end to account for the weight & be level. This is where I become a little bit jealous of influencers because of the amount of R&D support they get & give to vendors. My local shop and I are piecing together a full solution from forum posts, advice from manufacturers, and trying to dissect suspension setups from content creators. haha.

Still trying to decide what to do for the rear axle. Might go with the lower spring rate Dobinsons rear coils that yield a 2" lift at stock load. Part # C59-169 for those, if you want to check them out. Or, I might just leave the rear as is and use the Icon kit to level out the truck by adjusting the front only. I don't know that I'll ever carry enough weight in the bed to make full use of the Dobinsons coils. I'll probably run bed rails with a RTT setup that I'll take on & off throughout the season. This won't be a full time expedition rig.

I'm still up in the air on what to do for the rears.

Edit: I did find out today that ProComp is selling their 1" rear coil spacers individually. They're similar design to the Westcott rear spacer. I think that's about the only way to lift the rear 1" right now. Replacing the coils all yields a 2" lift or more in the rear.
