Anyone that upgraded their audio system wanting to get rid of their old stock head units?

I’ve been told the gps in the antenna is “in the dash” but unsure what that means. Easy disconnect with the factory head unit or actually built/molded in the dash somehow?

also has anyone done this upgrade?

    thanks.

as a side I know there are way better performing and looking aftermarket units etc, I’m looking for cheap, & relatively easy. I use Apple Maps over Bluetooth for directions / turn-by-turn (which is is what I did with my old 2014 that had NAV) but it’s nice to have the stock map/nav up on screen for identifying upcoming street names, and not cooking the phone by having the GPS going the whole time I’m driving etc., if that makes sense

I have a 2017 JBL W/Nav unit out of my 1794 I am willing to sell. Not sure if this is what your looking for. Let me know. I am on the opposite side of the country from you.

Awesome. Mine is non-JBL and I’m an idiot when it comes to electronics. PlugnPlay all day for me. Would a JBL HU work in a nonJBL system?

I have no idea. Might have to look through some threads and see if it has been done.

Yeah looks like it’s going to be tough and expensive or worse. I’m gonna have a local shop install whatever I do anyway. Might as well keep them happy and buy what they sell and just eat their markup.

Swapping a HU, OEM for aftermarket, isn't that hard.
The maestro you'll have to buy makes it even easier.

Crutchfield is very helpful with this stuff..

Go with wired or wireless Carplay..

You will be much happier with an aftermarket unit and I also recommend crutchfield.

Resurrecting this thread to see if anyone has a non JBL oem head unit with nav they’re looking to sell or trade.

I’ve done a little more research and it looks like possibly years 16-19 will work plug n play. Unsure about 14-15.

can PM me if preferred- thanks

If you're looking to replace your head unit in a 2019. Look on ebay. There are tons from. If not there, look into LKQ.

Google it, it's basically an online Salvage yard. With fair prices. They can even tell you where you have a local branch

    Update:

found one on eBay. 2016 model year. Works flawlessly. Removal and install took 20 minutes tops (after watching some YouTube university). 2 tools, 2 head units. Literally all you need. Very easy.

non-JBL non-Nav to non-JBL with Nav is unplug and replug. Second best PnP job/mod I’ve done after the headlights.
