Good looking bike there. I'm trying to figure out the Honda. I'm guessing a 250cc Nighthawk maybe?

There're are some very nice secondary roads and scenery in your state as well. Like any free time activity, you have to make the time.

That’s my wife’s new Rebel 300. She was learning in my SV650 but wanted something a little smaller to learn a little faster on (and something to call her own and trade up from there).

Nice! In addition to our two Goldwings we also have a 2009 Honda 250 Rebel that we use just for the training purpose. Solid platform that's tried and true for decades.

Four years of work. Restored this 1976 CB750. Harley Pipes and Sissy Bar were added. Finding stock pipes for a reasonable amount was really hard. Sissy bar was nice for storing a big backpack or having a second rider.

This is the same bike that got me hooked on motorcycles as a young teen! Still hooked. It's in my blood. Can't help it.

Have had it for over a year. Honestly…. Best riding bike I’ve ever owned or ridden, and I’ve ridden about every kind of bike there is all over the place. I’m not the most happy with Polaris’ fit and finish, but even with little things here and there I’ve never enjoyed a bike more. I have big plans for modification once we stop moving so much (in a couple years). Great bike!

Good to hear. I've been researching and seeking opinion on Indian vs H-D. I've ridden Harley in the past, but with Indian coming back...I've become interested in them. Polaris has been questionable to me in the past, but I hoped they were doing the Indian brand justice.

I don't get too caught up on brands. I've owned every kind of bike I know of, Dual Sport, Cruiser, Yamaha, Indian, whatever. If it's enjoyable to ride and own I do. If it's not, I don't. That said, I test rode the Chief compared to multiple HD Softail and even some Dyna models, and not one of them even came remotely close to being enjoyable to ride (for me). The Chief rolls into the corners like a dream. The HD felt like I couldn't stop laughing at how old the 4x4s and bricks were that they made it out of haha. Just me though.

Polaris was making good performing bikes without having to worry about "heritage" with Victory. All they did when they bought the Indian name was roll over their Victory upcoming models, ideas, engines, engineering, etc. into a package they can make more money with. I'm fine with that. Businesses need to do what gets them the most business. Still 100x better than a Harley. But reliability being better than HD still isn't near the Japanese big four. It all depends on your priorities. Even if it's not for you, when you see how much bike you get in say a 2022 Yamaha XSR9000 for ten grand, it's kind of hard to spend 15-20-35+ on an HD or Indian that doesn't even come to half the performance or handling.

I went a different route. After owning a couple different 2-wheelers: a Honda ST-1300 and a Triumph Tiger 800, I decided it was time to try a Spyder. I bought a 2022 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited.

Damn that's nice! The touring package and all! Sweet ride!!!

We were gifted our Goldwing trike from a dear friend that gave it to us on his deathbed. We rode with him a lot when he was able-bodied. In fact, he and I rode from Mesa, AZ to Amarillo, TX via Albuquerque, NM to visit my Mom and Dad. Anyway, had we not obtained his trike we would have purchased a CanAm Spyder for my wife to ride.

Enjoy the ride and, after some miles under your belt, let us know what you think of it on the long haul rides.

Thanks and will do. We plan to do some trips to the Missouri Ozarks and to Colorado. After a few trips, we’ll be able to report out. Thanks again!

2014 Multistrada. Definitely the most fun bike I've owned. IMG_20220723_163314.jpg

2008 Bonneville T-100. This was a gift to my uncle for his 75th birthday. My aunt gave me a 10k budget and told me to find him a bike he'd like. I bought this one a few states away. Trailered it home, then up to their house a few states away for a surprise 75th birthday gift. I know it sounds crazy but the old man was always in really good physical shape. He rode it until he died this year at 84. Put 28k miles on it over 9 years, which is pretty good when you consider he can't ride during the winter, and can't use the bike to pick up more than a 6 pack. IMG_20220511_150435.jpg

Excellent ~ thanks for sharing !

    In an old Road & Track magazine an editor once asked the readers;

"What's your definition of a sports car ?"

    The very best answer ?

"Anything I would choose to drive even if I had nowhere to go."

And that, my friend, is the definition of motorcycle & motorcyclist . . .

That Triumph was likely similar to what the kids were riding when your uncle was a youngester ~ something very familiar to him.

That was fantastic birthday gift for your uncle.

Honestly I love telling people that story, especially other riders. It was such a cool thing to do! He had bikes during the 60s and 70s when he was a young man but got rid of them for almost all of his adult life.

You and your aunt "hit it out-a the park" in acquiring that Triumph motorcycle for him. No doubt it brought him a boat load of joy . . .

I used to ride dirt bikes when we were kids. My uncle had a ton of land and all kinds of toys. We would take them on dirt, on roads, everywhere. Benefits of living in the country.

I always loved the feeling of riding a two wheeled motorcycle. And I recently decided to dive back into it and have some fun. A couple buddies have bought motorcycles over the course of the last year and I decided o start looking and planning. Been talking to friends who ride and researching quite a bit. I have a daughter headed to college next year so budget friendly was a must and I wanted something that would be reliable. I spoke to a friend of a friend who is looking to clear out some garage space and got a deal that was too good to pass up. So today I will going to pick up this:
    92596E92-EFE5-4645-83F3-CBEB18D07458.jpg

I am signed up to take the basic safety course and advanced course at the local community college. We never had to worry about getting licensed when I was a kid / teenager with the motorcycles we rode and were never bothered. But times have changed and I want to make sure I am very prepared. It will likely be a backroads machine for me and something I tow to destinations until I get more confident.

I can’t wait to get back on and start riding again.

Congratulations on the new bike! Although I had ridden motorcycles of various kinds off and on throughout my life, I too took a motorcycle safety course at a Community College when the opportunity presented itself. It just makes sense. Anyway, I think it’s awesome you found your way back in the saddle. Here wishing you many safe and fun adventures ahead!

This is the only pics i have of my two bikes. One is my 1998 XR650L that needs the engine rebuilt, and the other is my 2014 Valkyrie that i have since added saddle bags to.
