I consistently got 11-12 mpg towing my Airstream 25' (about 7,500 lbs) exclusively on the highway ... pretty much flat at steady 60 mph.

Filled up, hitched up, all highway miles, then re-filled tank and checked mileage the old fashioned way, you know, miles driven divided by gallons.\

Update now that the 5.29’s are in and hauling ass.
Towing the same 25’ Grand Design left me with an average of 8.6 MPG on a 250 mile trip through some pretty hilly interstate last weekend. We leave on our 2-week trip in a couple weeks, so I’ll have a really good idea after that.
I don’t expect to see north of 9 MPG.
That said, towing with the 5.29’s is about a million times better than stock gearing.

I tow a 19’ bass boat and get 11-12 when towing. I usually tow 70-75mph on the highway.

Gas mileage is bad but it tows nice!

    Agreed.

Although, I do have a drop-in AFE filter. I just cleaned it last week and put in new spark plugs at 105K miles. Does that mean I should be seeing somewhere in the neighborhood of 27 MPG? I figure 1.5 mpg fain per spark plug and another 15 for the clean high performance air filter???

I quit taking mileage readings, it’s all about the adventure. But man some gears would definitely put some pep back in her step while fully loaded

When I tow my G20BHS, which is about 4500 lbs loaded with the aerodynamics of a brick, I usually get around 8.5 mpg.

I took it out last week and got 10.5 mpg on a 70 mile trip. I strongly suspect I had a tailwind... :D

Sorry.. you definitely AREN'T towing.. you may be pulling a small trailer, but you latch a 7000lb RV camper behind one of our beasties, and you'll be doing good to get 9.5MPG (US).

And sorry, your snake-oil (also referred to as Amsoil) is not going to almost double your mileage. I'm lucky to get 10.7mpg in town where I live.

I'll just call it like it is. I had a 2020 Tundra 4x2 before trading it in December 2020. No way in hell you get 16mpg towing with this truck. You can barely get that mileage without towing and trying to be light as possible of the pedal. Numbers are complete BS. I had a 2019 Tundra 4x2 4.6L and even that motor would barely get 16mpg on a good day. I towed and still tow a 7k lb trailer and would get at best 11-12mpg. Now currently for the last 1.5yrs I've been towing it with a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 3.0L Duramax (Bought new) with 43k miles Easily get 18mpg towing now. 30mpg on freeway at times.

I found a simple but effective way to get better MPG. Put a thumbtack inside your right shoe. Point up.
