So frustrated hoping someone has experienced this. Our 2016 Tundra Limited (209k miles 5.7 v8) had the starter replaced in January. Since then we've had numerous times it just won't start. All electronics come on the engine just doesn't turn over/crank nothing. Everytime we've had this, eventually it starts. Sometimes after a few minutes but its been as long as 2 days (over a weekend it would not start, tow truck came Monday and it cranked right up no issue). The last time this happened we had it towed to the dealership. Once there it cranked right up. They kept it all week. We literally got it last night and got 5 starts out of it and now this morning it won't start again.

I'm thinking it may be a loose wire from relay to starter or maybe the truck doesn't realize its in gear and won't start??? I'm at a loss and the shop won't/can't fix it unless its happening there. We also noticed last time it started after a few days of being dead it flashed traction control off and the check engine light came on. Shop said the code said it needed an oil filter.

Anyone ever had this? Thank you!

What condition and age is the battery?

Battery is fairly new. No sticker on it and I can't remember when we got it. Mechanics checked charge says it's good.
Lights come on and radio as well. I will say we have an aftermarket starter. Thinking of getting that replaced with a Toyota starter to see if that fixes it.

Load test battery, check ground wires and the other wires you mentioned. Truck is up to date on maintenance? Plugs and coil packs changed or verified good?

Sounds like battery or ground issue to me

I think you answered your own question. Denso/OEM or nothing at all.

Oh and how'd you get 209k miles on a 2016?? Lol

Ive had starters and other electrical components be bad when purchasing. Was this a rebuilt unit or new? Could certainly be an issue with the starter

Sounds like you have a bad solenoid on the starter. You should be able to hear the click when it engages . Also make sure all of your connections are clean and making good contact. A good ground makes such a difference !!
