I just put a full set of CBI skids on our 2020 4Runner. Not much out there for cat protection on those.

The front plate only is not enough. They can easily get your rear cars off in under 60 seconds. Be glad you have front and rear coverage.

Mark is going to give my info to his supplier. So hopefully that works. Without a commercial account and a large volume, to ship a one piece plate that weighs 40-50 pounds would be very expensive

So after driving around for a while even with the defoulers I’ll get a 4030 code pop up randomly. Sometimes it’s once a day, sometimes twice a day, sometimes not at all. But the kenwood headunit I have let’s me clear the code while I’m driving so it’s really no issue. I could disable the sensors but it’s so easy to clear it right way I just leave them on.

I was getting p0420 and p0430 catalyst inefficiency with just the 90 degree spacers. I added a spark plug nonfouler from AutoZone and then the 90 spacer and haven’t gotten any codes since. About 1k miles or so.

Had my converters stolen while at the auto body shop yesterday while in for some bumper repairs The Toyota dealership doesn't have an auto body shop so it's there recommended place. At least I won't be footing the bill but for fucks sake, I'm hearing 6 months???? What the fuck!!!!!

Sucks man... What part of the country are you in?? Also, if you don't have a spare ride, I'd try to get them to spot you a rental while your Tundra is down; it might motivate folks to stay on top of getting your truck done sooner than later.

    Good luck!

I put the RCI cat guards on my tundra. Yes, the rear guards need redesigned. As well as that flat bar with the threaded clips. I think they should’ve welded threaded nuts instead for strength. Mine stripped out to the point it’s snug not tight. I emailed RCI about the problems. Still haven’t heard from them. I doubt I will.

I’m in California. Good idea about a rental, I go dirt bike riding practically every weekend. Just got back last night from a 3 day riding trip to Kennedy Meadows up in the Sequoias. Rented a highboy sprinter van to haul the bike and sleep in. I may just have to dump the Tundra and pick up one of these

FYI if someone is stealing your cats or anything and you want to deter them use wasp spray in their eyes. It shoots about 30 feet. Hot pepper spray. None cause permanent damage but may delay until police show up.

Might make the situation worse. Need to find a way for the truck to automatically spray in a 360 radius once the cats are touched

I am thinking of removing my cats and storing them for when I sell the truck some day. Does someone make bolt in pipes for this or do they have to be welded in? Maybe it is easier to buy an exhaust system that does not have cats and store my old exhaust system. What are the options? I don't really want to cut the cats out.

I don't want any shields or headers. I just want replacement pipes to take the cats off the exhaust without disturbing any of the rest of the exhaust system.

By the way, those shields do not work. In fact, NOTHING will work other than (i) removing the cats or (ii) keeping your truck parked where thieves cannot get to the truck. If there is a will, there is a way to steal anything and no shield will stop a thief. I could cut a shield off in less than a minute with a battery operated grinder (cut the heads off the bolts). Easy peasy. I could also drill out the bolts that hold it on very quickly.

I beg to differ here. I have not heard of one attempt at cutting my plates. Infact, there is only one instance where someone attempted to unbolt the plates but failed. To date and the best of my knowledge, not one cat has been stolen off a truck with my plates installed.

All the law enforcement and other parties involved in this have agreed that spray painting is worthless, etching vin numbers is only useful if they catch them and can find you, but even then, most of the time they can’t be welded back on.

My plates are chosen thicknesses to prevent easy cuts, I used to make a 1/8 aluminum plate, but it was too flimsy and I discontinued it.

There are no guarantees with my plates, but I can tell you I have MANY stories and thank you’s because there were 10 tundras in a parking lot and 9 got hit, the 10th had my plates on it. Hand prints on the door, camera footage, and more tell the same story.

In all honesty, I wouldn’t want to be on my back with a grinder and a cutting disk peppering the crap out of myself with hot slag, the $50-100 they get for the cats isn’t worth the burns, and they would have to cut my plates twice to get access (goes back to the thickness thing)

I don’t make and sell these to be a visual deterrent, I do it to be a physical deterrent
