Honestly I don’t know why we were looking, it was way to late to do anything with, it was more or less let’s see the carnage?

I've a ton of respect for John McCain (RIP), but as much as I appreciated the guy, I took every opportunity to make fun of his "dick fingers" (lil chubs) any time he'd do "air quotes" when talking about stuff, which he seemed to do a lot.

Anyway, nothing wrong with ham hands. Comes in handy when you gotta drop heat on someone. Handy. See what I did there? Better than sausage/chubs. Google of images of Prince Charles Chub Fingers will show you some serious chubs.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this. Like, your dad wrapped his hands around a drill press and it ripped a callous the size of a potato chip off? Or you got your hand stuck in a sheeter and it crushed and lopped off your finger? (your ham shown has no clear reattachment). Restaurant I worked at 25yrs ago had someone lose their entire hand in a sheeter. Safety worked, they just made the stupid mistake of approaching with a flat hand vs. fist.

Sorry, should've updated that - it's spoken for since ~8pm last night. If you go to the scAmazon website and search for Toyota Heritage Stripes Letter License Plate Frame, you should see it. I found a seller selling 2-packs for $11-something shipped.

Oh and back to the main topic, what'd I get done for the 1GT .... returning to this old ass issue:
Small update on the "Serra Toyota of Decatur Sent Wrong Part" fiasco.

I've been back and forth with Eric every 3-5 weeks since my purchase in February over this mislabeled part they sent me for front splash aprons. As that 2nd quoted post above from back in March says, I was given claims it was an issue with Toyota mispackaging the parts, he asked Toyota to send another but it was also the wrong part, yadda yadda.

I sent another email requesting an update end of last week, I think? Maybe Monday. But I knew I'd be at the local stealership to fulfill a recall on our 2020 Highlander, so I ordered the same "wrong" part online from my local dealership doing the recall work, because I need to get these damn aprons done and out to Nick or whoever here needed them. I'm also short 1 skid plate bolt so I ordered 5 more skid plate bolts.

I brought all four splash guards Serra sent me, still in sealed packages just in case.

Sure enough, dropped off the Highlander with my service advisor, walked straight to the parts counter to chat them up. They went to the back and got my parts, laid them on the counter.

I pulled out all four splash guards Serra sent, still sealed, and said, "This is why I another dealership sent me..." and laid them side by side. First I put down "R" and "RR" aprons for the right-front, then "L" and "RR" again for the left. I put their the LL above the L/RR pair.

Conversation at the local dealership went something like this...

Me: "So I'm not crazy, Toyota did screw up here, not me. You see it's the same part number on both sealed bags, with a different part inside, right? Like, what can I do here, Toyota sent them the wrong part, right? I've been back and forth with their person and he says he's been unable to get Toyota to send the right part. How'd you guys get the right part if he can't?!"

Parts Mgr: "Wait - they told you they got the part from Toyota like this? I clearly see it's the same part number, but a different part.
(checks seal on bag) Obviously it's sealed too, with both labels, no tampering, so what's the problem exactly?"

Me: "I notified the dude as soon as it arrived, with pictures, showing the problem. That's literally what the guy at the dealership in Decatur AL said, 'Toyota sent it this way', so he supposedly requested another, and 'they sent the same part mis-labeled again', so he supposedly 'contacted Corporate to do an inventory check' because they're sending mislabeled parts... at least that's what I was told via email, here, look (I showed her the email chain)"

Parts Mgr: "I don't think that's correct, sir. Most dealerships either package the parts in-house, or have a nearby warehouse that takes care of it. That's what we do here, and every other dealership I've worked for is the same. Something sounds fishy, if you notified them within 5 days of receipt, and they didn't take a return and refund, you need to contact Toyota of America to complain about the dealership, this is wrong! They shouldn't be making accusations like that against Toyota, and should've refunded you after the first email where you clearly showed photos of the mistake."

Now I have all four, I can Hopefully get these aprons done over the weekend. I sent Eric another email to explain what happened today and give him another chance to make it right. I'll send him the part back if he'll shoot me a label, but I expect a full refund.

He emailed back not long ago, fastest return email I've ever seen, saying only "I just got the correct one in today".

Needless to say, I won't be ordering from Serra of Decatur again. I'm sure there's other dealerships with a decent discount, no tax, and free shipping. I'm on the hunt.

Pic of their part (left) versus my local dealership part (right). Dates are on the bag. Same part number. Totally different part.

Whatever he was drilling bound up and shifted his hand, and the drill bit got a huge piece of finger meat, he went to the hospital, not sure what they did but it was wrapped up for months. But the piece of skin we found, once dried up was about the size of a quarter.

and I’m just an idiot and bypassed safeties to clean a dough sheeter, my knuckles made the belt on the gear drive slip long enough to get to the off switch.

I've seen the skid plates, but what about skid bars? Could make a plate thats jack worthy with stock 1gt overload springs between the k member & trans x-member. When i get the rivets off the leafs, i can reinforce the factory skid plate. And i wanna build a built-in oil trough to keep the oil off the k-member.

Hey, when you do all the work yourself instead of farming it out, accidents happen!

But t's not like all this happened last year. Those pics are stuff that's happened over the last 15 years. I'm an active little bastard.

Funny enough, that experience didn't hurt. I was working on the truck one day, went to walk downstairs, and my little toe caught the edge of the door frame on the way down to the shop. Was a mixed fracture, spiral with partial shatter. I couldn't set it myself and it the shatterd part wasn't allowing it to stick so I went to doc.

Nurse nerve-blocked (but forgot one nerve, so I still felt) while the doctor tried repeatedly to set it. After 10-15 minutes of trying multiple sets, he gave up, "I've never had to do this in my 24 years of being a doctor, but I'm going to have to pin a little toe". I asked him if he could just cut it off, and I was serious, but he wouldn't do it. "You need this to for balance!"

They pinned it while I was awake. Then gave me a thigh-high cast, they said it would only take 4-6 weeks. I was in that damn cast for 4.5 months, all summer long, on crutches. Talk about a bitch! Found out really quick how handicap-unfriendly a lot of places are, added some empathy in me for permanently disabled people.

What was the reason for the cast up to your crotch if the injury was just your toe? Insurance racket?

Supposedly the doctor was worried too much movement at the knee would risk adding pressure to the small toe, potentially shifting the pin.

I can't move the damn toe anyway, it basically fused from being pinned for so long. They wanted me to do rehab to regain mobility but I was, like, "it's just a little toe!" In hindsight, stupid move. I get arthritic aches in it periodically which are no fun, something else the doctor warned me about. "Always do the PT, it's more important than the procedure".

I'm digging through pics and can't find anything of the 1st half-thigh cast they gave me, I wore it for the first month, month and a half? After that, they gradually worked down to a high-calf no-boot (required crutches), then another high-calf with boot, then a ankle-high, then off and pin came out.

My wife was on crutches a few months and said the same thing. She was able to get a temporary handicap tag and I bought her a drink caddy that's made for crutches. It really puts things in perspective for the permanently disabled though.

The older I get, the more disabling experiences I have, the more I realize I was a real asshole with some of the things I said and did in my teens/20s.

My empathy level is pretty high at this point.

Yeah, I really need to start looking for someone to coverup. I'm thinking horsehead nebula or something fun like that, from ankle to knee.

Finding coverup artists who aren't afraid of color and would tackle this (I got boned on it, bigtime) is difficult.

And just to be clear, I wasn't ragging on your ink. But in that first pic where the cast stops below the knee, it did look like an escape attempt, lol.

I'm trying to scroll through pages and pages of backlog, so I might have missed it, but: WHERE DO I SEND MY CHECK?

This looks amazing. I want a rock-solid off-road solution for this stuff, and I'd rather not drill into my dash if I can avoid it. I am seriously interested in hearing how much you'd sell the base mount for (I assume I would do my own thing with RAM components or whatever).

Well, let's start with a picture of your stereo/receiver and I can give some advice. Maybe more, but I don't generally fab for others because it's a time suck. And if I fuk my own stuff up I'm good with that. But, send me a picture of your stereo.

Ah, I assumed that I have the same setup as yours, and that there wouldn't be much if any modification other than removing the plastic surrounds and replacing them with your metal ones.

I know, I know, dusty AF. Need to clean things, again. Not easy in Arizona... plus my truck seems to be covered with ash this morning...wonder what is on fire now.

I ultimately drilled into mine but the result has been the best for me.

I've been putting off doing this but I finally installed my manual proportioning valve/ LSPV delete. Also replaced the last rubber hose on the truck with a longer stainless steel line.

I put the valve right on the master cylinder. Tighten the knob for more rear brakes.

Stock one is off, now I can stop going through bailing wire and zipties

Since the LSPV has two ports that go in and one that goes out, I simply installed a tee and mounted it to the frame where the LSPV was.

Lastly, the longer hose. I ran into some issues with the female end because of the OEM male fitting on the hard line. I took the hard line out completely and noticed it had a very small flare on it compared to the fitting on the other end and my other spare OEM fittings I had lying around. The flare was prohibiting the threads from catching on the hose. I took a file to the fitting and it eliminated the flare so I could correctly get the hoses connected. @Casper421 this reminded me a lot of what was happening with that fitting on the line we got from the dealership.

Well, you have plastic surrounds, so there's access. we can give it a whirl, I guess. I would need you so send me your plastic surrounds and some other pics, send me a DM if you want to get into it.
