Yeah I have two. I sorta wanted to attack it from the rear to save it for potential reinstall.

Just go buy a mini grinder? I’m leaning that way.

A variable speed sawzall and metal blade can 'file' through metal pretty quick, just need to pay attention to what the whole blade is doing, not just the cutting part.

anyone can use the right tool for the job. Making the wrong tool work is half the fun.

I'm gonna say no to sawzall, sorry bee. Angle grinder with thin cut off blades to start. Be a dentist and grind like one. Follow up with that I said earlier. For the hard to reach spots if any, fine work - dremel or hand file. Tap from other side as you get close to see if it pops. Clean up with angle grinder as necessary.

I have an angle grinder single speed 11k and a variable 2-11K. Don't buy a harbor freight, the good ones are loud enough to hurt your hearing. Wear eyes and ears.
    This is plenty right here.

Any of these would likely work to start.

And take that guard off if you want to fit anywhere. No metal fab guy keeps the guard I know of.

Gotta watch your fingers more, however.

I actually think an abrasive straight blade is a great idea, but that space on a sawzall is bent and broken blades and and chipped paint. It's the tailgate stud on the passenger's side.

    Damn, pupper is getting hyooj.

If you don't have one, you should really use this as an excuse to buy a Dremel Multimax: https://www.dremel.com/us/en/p/mm50-f013mm5000

They're cheap enough, and $20 or less will get you a gaggle of aftermarket wood and bi-metal blades. It's basically made for this job, I think. Although I'd probably use my Dremel rotary tool with the same disc I use to cut steel rods, cable housings, etc.

yessir, ?thanks? (Are you supposed to thank people that compliment your dog? Cause when i dont it seems to offend people. But his physique isnt my doing at all. But i notice people getting frustated that their dogs arent gentlemen in public. In fact, my grandparents are responsible for his understanding that he can play rough with me, but strangers of all species are to be respected.)
He's my stud, and we're looking for bitches. First litter can be full blood, but i want a half/half ridge husky, h/h ridge mastiff, h/h ridge boxer...etc. my stud fee will be 6 wk pick of the litter, but i wouldnt pick alpha, i'd pick the shaman.

Actually @daveeasa, If you don’t own an angle grinder, you’ve got no business buying any other tools. Buy quality and it will outlast you. I prefer makita but that’s just me. When you’re shopping, pay attention to the trigger safety’s and how they operate. Some are just stupid and uncomfortable to use by design (like the DeWalt). Guards are spare parts, but always remember, a grinder will fuck up your world quicker than you can shit your pants.
@shifty` I had a dremel multitool fail on me in a disappointingly small amount of time and use. Perhaps I just picked the lemon. I really wanted it to be a great tool. They do make an impressive spread of quality blades in all shapes and sizes. The blades i use are $20 a pop tho.

“Rat tail handle” is one of the more comfortable grip designs you can look for in a grinder, it’s meant for heavy long use without fatigue

Just in case anyone cares, here is what I found. It says a special service tool is needed for adjustment but I bet that's not true.

I got it done. Took a bit of time last night and a bunch this morning. More than I anticipated. A fair bit of cutting. But it definitely is nice to have easy open now.

I've got one junkyard CV axle that needs to be rebooted, and don't really have time to make another junkyard run. Looking at rockauto for another CV axle as a temporary solution till I can get my hand on another OEM without torn boots to reboot

Looking for reccomendations. Heard some positive things about Cardone

OK, so, if I'm going to get a new dremel as my current Master Mechanic has taken a beatdown. I'll convert it to a permanent cutoff wheel tool and use the new one for switching bits. If I go Dremel brand, is there a model people like? I have an air saw and two cordless reciprocating saws so I'm well stocked in that department.
