Hello everyone, glad to be a part of a ever growing family of Sweet Trucks!
I just purchased a 2017 1794 edition Tundra crew max.

Has lots of bells an whistles....

My concern after looking over at home, is I found some extra wires... coming from fuse/relay box to battery directly.

I asked a fellow Tundra buddy, but we couldn't find any extra or added items that would cause these wires.

It goes from POSITIVE battery to main fuse on relay/fuse box. Like it's a jumper20220630_153259.jpg

Interesting. Can you post an overall shot of it connecting to your battery? I want to see the cables and terminals that are on your battery.

Yeah I have never seen anything like that before. The 2 guys that I tagged are some of our smart electrical guys. I'm betting that they say just remove them.

    THANKS, much appreicated!!!

Its weird there are no outlets, fuses, anything that would show its a hookup for something....

Looks like a POSITIVE jumper wires... butvthere so small. An why did they use such lilnwires an not one big one... an they way there just smashed between the positive terminals on battery isn't very good.

Could of at least used a O crimp connector

If you don't mind me asking the connection at the fuse/relay box. Is that a main positive Out???

Why would there be wires connected to that?

I guess you could call the “Little 3” upgrade. (Big 3 upgrade is where you replace the three main cables with larger to better handle added loads like big audio systems, high output alternators, winches…)

Those three are just paralleling the existing 4ga ?? cable from the battery box the the fuse box and are useless. Remove them ASAP. Any issue with your main power cable and they will be glowing elements.

Just a guess, perhaps a way to provide power to a camera that's plugged into the 12v, with the ignition off??

Definitely looks like jumper wires from the battery post to the main power inlet of the fuse box. It just essentially "bypasses" the factory cable from the battery to the fuse box.

My only thought is one of the terminals on the factory power cable was/is loose or dirty and wasn't making a good clean connection. I say this because it looks like sand or dirt around your fuse box area. Rather than fix it right they just added in some jumper wires in a very poor way.

I would remove them, high loads of electricity flowing through here and if they melt of short out you will have big problems. IF you remove them and have power issues, the main cable from battery to fuse box may need to be cleaned or replaced. These definitely looks like an attempt at a quick fix for that.

I was wondering about the connection loss myself when you zoom in and look at the terminal itself.

Hahaha knew that was coming. Its never easy huh. Just to verify its a 2017 correct? Can you snap a few more pictures of the fuse box and wire area. Seems your "jumper" wires were a bandaid for another problem we now have to isolate.

A good overall of the fuse box, need to see if anything else visibly is wrong. I am looking at power source to interior dash components now. Something was being bypassed

    Hypothesis:

Those three wires are coming from the positive battery terminal to bypass the fusible link.

Ok if true, does that mean that fuseable link need to be replaced?? Or ???

It's a hypothesis, so give it a bit more time for the community to provide input.

I believe that fuse is powered off the main battery cable from the underside. So if you aren't getting power in that bolt the fuse might be gone. I haven't replaced one of those personally but I would take out the battery and follow the positive battery cable (not the 3 wires) into the fuse box and ensure it has continuity past that main fuse. If it doesn't the wire is broken or the fuse is gone.

Looking now but I tend to agree, part of the fusible link is most likely blown and the jumper wires are bypassing that. Looking to see if that makes sense with the truck running but most of the interior being dead power wise.

Can you look in the clear windows of the fusible link and see any black, burning, dirt, damage? Post a higher quality photo of this area.

I can't remember if that exposed bolt is where the lead from the positive terminal attaches to or is the fused output. I can't go out to the truck and check right now.

If it is the input side, it's possible that the battery cable is broken and they took the easy way out.
