Nooooow I’m offended. I sport a turn gen and bun on occasions. But I don’t post flex pics in a 1st gen sub-forum. Whyyy can’t you live and let me live?!

My search didn't get me where I had hoped. Is there 1st gen brake upgrade that keeps me out of the junkyard and best gen owners tend to like?

Does anyone recall what RPM will start to choke a 4.7?

 

When we were in the Finger Lakes last year (year before? damn this pandememory!) we were shocked to hear this is apparently a very frequent thing, like, at least once a month. I was joking around about someone driving their buggy erratically mid-day and the person (30yr resident) we were staying with was, like, "Yep, the smart ones have horses that know where to go and can get there in a straight line whether you're on the ropes or not... but there aren't a lot of 'em that spend much time on the horses...."

 

I could see a market for that at Spencer's gifts around Halloween or whatever replaced them; Spencers.com?

 

300-400 RPM from my experience.

Red on the tach is around 6-6500 if I recall. I think I experienced it at just over 5K

 

You mean the rev limiter? I can't say I've pushed it to that point myself. That's the kind of thing I do in OTHER people's vehicles.

 

My combination of gears and tires like to hold onto the lower gear if I'm jamming it. It wasn't my plan, lol.

 

I was about to say, with your tires and gears, that may actually make sense.

 

My engine has always made a weird noise at very high rpm. It happens once the truck upshifts and the RPMs then dip down slightly. I mentioned it in the past and others said their truck does too. I'm pretty sure my exhaust manifolds have those hairline cracks so that's what I think I'm hearing.

Never felt it cut out or stall though.

 

Was it a hard mod? This has been on my mind a while. Thinking of new rear shocks and really considering the relocation. More travel with the relocation right? Any other benefits?

Hard is hard to categorize. I guess it depends on a combination of skill, money and time. No it's not hard, bed has to come up or off to get the upper mount in place. I prefer off for many reasons. The driver's side frame/ OEM shock mount has to be cut out to allow the longer new shock to pass through where it was. New lower mounts get welded to the axle body. Travel goes from about 8" to 12" at the shock. - that's a lot. Rear travel should not be underestimated in general, it's not a necessary thing, it's a big performance thing. But, like everything else, it's expensive. So, do most of us need it - no. Do I? no. Do I love it? Yes. Shock options get really good as well.
