My 06 was taken from me too soon!
    E196D9BA-14FC-4FEC-858D-76BD3DD2F99F.jpg
Planned on driving it another 10 years…

So, I’m upgrading tomorrow a decade early.

2016 DCLB SR package, tow mirrors, etc.

    Original MSRP / Spec sheet:
    14E1E0CF-4A0C-463B-BFDA-24625E066697.jpg

Not the truck being bought, but a similar model:

I understand I’m missing out on the 38 gallon tank as opposed to the 26 in the SR. That’s my only real upset.

Other than that I can add fog lights and don’t mind having no chrome anyway.

Looking for any advice on first things I should look into when I take delivery of the vehicle. I’ve been a Tacoma/4Runner guy mostly until I found my 06 DC Tundra. I wish they still made them this size but with a long box! But a long box I did need so here we are!

Any tips, tricks, SR specific mods, preventative maintenance, problem areas, and general harassment or advice welcome. :D

I’ll be migrating over here from TW to research and hang out. Howdy, all :hattip:

Looks like I’ll need to remove the steering wheel for a fog light and possibly intermittent wiper upgrade.

    And some 265/70-18 3PMSF tires before winter…

The suspension is only 7 years / 152k miles old, but is there a best take-off OE suspension to look for when it’s time to upgrade?

For Tacomas it’s usually the TRD OR shocks people are after. Looking for best riding work truck to haul metal/wood/motorcycles and go on road trips/camping. Not our off road rig.

I've never owned an SR or driven anything without intermittent wipers but I'd say that would be a day 1 mod.

For sure. From reading on here some SR models have them already, some don’t. Hoping mine will, but if it’s apart for the fogs anyway not too much more work.

TRD Pro suspension is best, but costly. Can do other lifted coilovers for less. The stock OR package shocks are next best for overall control and ride, I think (blue and yellow). The stock black shocks are marginal at best and I think the OR package units do better than the Sport Package (red/blue). You can often find almost new OR package coilovers for cheap from when people install aftermarket stuff.

Yup I’ll be looking for OR shocks most likely. This won’t be our off road rig, we have the 4Runner and dirt bikes for that, so just looking for best ride down the highway while bringing the fun stuff with (and daily to work of course) :) thank you!

Finally have actual photos (a week late) if the truck that will be delivered (also a week late).

100% going to need some wheels/tires first thing haha.

If anyone is selling OEM 5 spoke alloys (or any other OE 18x8 or as close to possible of stock size/backspacing) wheels please feel free to let me know. Thank you.

Yeah those are decently light as well, I’ll keep an eye out, thank you!

Iirc, the SR5 are 29.5 lbs and the OR are 32 lbs? For whoever is counting.

We should make a thread of all OEM Tundra wheels and their weights…

Yup, just waiting on them to follow through. They’ve been slow.

It’s pretty near impossible to find a 2016-2017 Long Bed for a low price (or at all) so… this one or wait who knows how long and be vehicleless ha. Will make it work.
