Just did the lightning event in SATX . The 0-60 is pretty incredible but everything else about the truck is underwhelming.

WHAAT?! Someone on this forum who's willing to admit a Ford isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread and better in every possible way than a Tundra could ever be?! Blasphemy!

I loved my ICE F150, but this Lightning for $80k (72k with tax credit) was just cheap and underwhelming. The two tone seats look cheap, the dash board they said that's for the sun fade is thin loud plastic, the rear end shuddered when we came to a stop, the interior components are cheaper looking and feeling than my Lariat 502, the boast online about the cupholder and bin ambient lighting and it's no longer in there. For $80k I'd rather buy a TRD pro at markup. And I prob will. I'm deciding now between a platinum hybrid at 69k or the trd pro at 79k. Also thinking of order a raptor at msrp but they said 6-9 months.

How much money probably had to be snuck out of other areas of that truck to put all that technology in it and keep it under 100k.

It had to come from somewhere because it’s very easy to spec gas and hybrid versions out to over 70k.

Look at that totally flat rear floor. The perfect space for all your smaller items (tools, parts, etc) to slide around and smash into your doors and seats. :D

Seriously though, if Toyota offered a package like this with the iForce Max, I’d probably jump from my paid-off ‘21 a lot sooner.

Neat, I guess. Has some stuff that is useful. I do like the large flat floor area in the back. My experience with Ford thoughs is that they can't figure out how to make reliable electric components like window motors, stereo systems, gauge clusters etc. Every Ford truck I've owned or had for work has been the equivalent of a house wired up by an amateur home jobber rather than a ticketed electrician. Can't say I'd trust Ford with a fully electric truck.

I'll be listing mine on CarsAndBids.com if the dealer opted out of the 1 year requirement. Otherwise I'm passing on it.

I learned as soon as you lift off the gas (lol) accelerator, it starts regen braking so you hardly touch the brake.
When towing this feature is turned off. He tows an 8300 lb boat.
This truck produces range anxiety due to lack of charging stations.
How it handles low range and the mechanical rear diff lock is interesting.
Bigger wheels and tires cuts into the range as expected. The computer shows this.

    Towing capability. Cool.

    500km range. Cool.

Range gets reduced when towing. Not cool but understandable.

500km range in a nice, moderate climate. That's cute.

    40min charge time? Hard no.

For me to even begin considering a fully electric truck I need to see 500+km range at -40 Celsius while towing a minimum of 6500lbs through the mountains while being able to to charge up from 0% to 100% in 15min or less at any currently available gas station. According to Google, there are only 3 or 4 public EV charging stations within a 400km radius of me, so even if my required truck specs are met there simply isn't the infrastructure to support it.

I don't think a fully electric pickup truck is anywhere close to being practical for people who actually do truck stuff outside of a major urban center in a mild climate. By truck stuff I mean basic home jobber renos, hunting, fishing, camping and light off roading not HD truck work like contractor needs. A PHEV on the other hand, is a much better solution. Charge the truck up at home, run on electric power for day to day in town runs and have the gas engine for real work and extended trips.

We won't get into the blue oval. They can rot in hell no matter what they build. :D

Man, Northern Alberta? Brrrr. They should revise the Province motto for modern times to be: Where EV batteries go to die.

I think people overestimate the amount of regen that could even be produced towing. Watch the video with the Rivian R1T doing the Ike Gauntlet and I think they only regen’d like 3% of the battery on the 8 mile downhill. That’s equivalent to gaining ~3 miles of range.

Also, the less aerodynamic a trailer(like a travel trailer) the worse it is all around. The power needed to move it on flat ground or up hill is greater, and the “negative” power needed to slow it down on a downhill is lower since the trailer itself is acting as an air brake. I rarely need to use my friction brakes with my travel trailer.

I'm probably interested in the Toyota hybrid at some point in the distant future. But I don't need to tow anything more than a 5k lb boat.

Toyota's Hybrid in its current iteration adds power (simulates larger displacement), not how far you can go on a gallon of gas. My opinion is future CAFE standards, will cause Toyota's overall "mileage number average" as a company, to go down too much with the Tundra. So I think they will be pushed to introduce something new in the future for the Tundra, as far as a Hybrid or full Electric goes. Just my opinion.

Reminds me of the Sinatra song words for New York, New York "If you can make it there......, you can make it anywhere"

    In this case N. Alberta.
If an EV can make it there ...... 8^0

I made a post about it recently. https://www.tundras.com/threads/tundra-vs-ford.107016/#post-2754976

It does compare a 5.7L with the Powerboost

well this is what I found out last week.

in a nutshell I ordered a 2022 F150 tremor in october 21'. it did not arrive and delayed.
I found and purchased a 22 Tundra Platinum in Feb 22 for msrp at $63,200
love this truck and zero problems at 5200 miles.

Well my tremor came in this week, decisions. But I got word my TRD Pro has been allocated and I should have it end of June.

So decisions to be made!!! all good right?

so I still bought the tremor and sold it to a friend because TRD Pro coming and that is my ultimate.

Point of story is I got an offer from Carvana on Tundra Platinum and it came back at $70,000, I paid $63,200

For fun I put the Tremor info in at Carvana and my sticker was $73,255 loaded up.
I put 1000 miles in even though it has 50 miles, the offer came back at $57,500

    what is that telling you?

It’s telling me there’s a good reason carvana had to just cut its workforce dramatically yesterday.
Did you try Vroom? I got way better offers with them, but they just swapped CEO’s yesterday as well and already are trying to back out of an offer they gave me.

so I guess what I’m trying to say is, take those prices while you still can unless you care to sell privately!

Well aware of the iForce Max. Despite the nearly nonexistent bump in fuel economy from the TTv6, it's the only half ton I'm interested in replacing my current Tundra with when the time comes. And I agree--I think they will push for something more efficient in the not-too-distant future in addition to the electric Tacoma.

The Tremor is too new a trim to be in their system. Try that with a Lariat or Platinum and you'll get a much higher quote.

F150’s don’t value well in online appraisals. Because not only between the numerous amount of trim and cab configurations you have the low, mid and high grades between along with a lot of packages and add ons.

I bought my lariat 502a for 57k and sold to carvana for $61k. But I did an in person because it had more options than allowed me to list. I see tremor low grade with cloth for $64k so the high package shouldn’t be $57k

The Base model Tremor MSRP is $53k which is what Carvana probably valued his truck at. My 402A Sticker for comparison:

Someone should make an app that allows you to post questions like these to two forums at once so you can see the answers side by side. Would love to know what a Ford forum would be saying to this.

I saw that too, but of more concern to me was this.
My wifes Outback has more ground clearance.
My truck is primary for Utility. Carrying stuff, towing.
And this Lightning offers alot of this, especially with the space up front.

I know they probably did it for efficiency, but it's a shame Toyota only offers a 3.31 rear end now, might have actually stood a change against the Powerboost.

No it wouldnt have. With the 10 speed transmissions, the rear axle ratio has very little effect once they are out of first gear. And even with the lower axle ratio, the Toyota got the jump in one of the races of the line.

That was all about power and weight. The powerboost was pulling on the Tundra like a freight train, it simply makes more HP and probably weighs a bit less.

Toyota really missed the mark on the Hybrid. The lack of generator, the minimal improvement in mpg's and apparently the poor performance are all pretty disappointing.

TRD Pro vs Raptor prob just tilted in favor of the pro. Raptor no longer has 802a, that's the new Raptor R. So the Raptor "high" is the base and only package for the raptor with new base MSRP at 77.5k now.

I wouldn't say the Pro and even a standard Raptor is a fair comparison. Stickers and badges don't make an offroad truck after all.
