How might I mount an alumax on top of a diamondback, as opposed to using the brackets that loop over the edge and underneath? It’s not an issue to drill holes, but I’m mainly curious if there’s a flat bracket or something similar to do a direct mount.

We don't make a flat brackets like that, but you could cut the tab off our standard attachment brackets and bolt it down like that.

@KB Voodoo Which setup do we need if we have a tonneau cover with the bed rails relocated? I'm mainly looking at the lower rails to be able to run 3-4 bike trays across the top.

Would you like bed crossbars, or a complete bed rack?

We have steel bars here: https://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/toyota-tundra-hi-rise-crossbars-for-use-with-tonneau-covers

And we have aluminum bars here: https://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/toyota-tundra-aluminum-hi-rise-crossbars-for-use-with-tonneau-covers

When ordering, you will be asked if your rails have been relocated. Say "Yes" and you will receive the correct parts.

We also have rear tire trays here if you want to mount bikes via a fork mount: https://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/rear-tire-tray

Well, I ordered my setup. Expensive week for the truck - full 18” max modular rack with 2 tool boxes and a bakflip revolver x4. Getting ready for the apocalypse.

I was going to do the exact setup only to learn that you can’t open the MX4 with the rack system on. Don’t see the point in that. I have coordinated an exchange with Bakflip for the MX4 (unopened and unused) for the revolver series. Do you just have no need to access your bed, or what is the purpose of the MX4? Curious as I like the MX4 better but need access to the bed.

Just one data point, the bakflip has a 400lb load rating on top. So you can technically store stuff on top of it but under the rack, and then stuff under it as well. I'm going to see how that works before I sell my bakflip for a revolver. Greater accessibility on top of it but worse underneath it.

I don't know that I would have started out with a bakflip had I known I was getting a bed rack though, so really think through that one, I'm just going to see if I can make it work before selling and buying a new tonneau.

BakFlip makes a good product. We had a Revolver on our Tacoma and on our Raptor. The Revolver is able to roll all the way up, even with the 10" rack.

That said, I switched to a RetraxONE XR, and it's a better product. The only drawback is that the canister takes up some bed space.

I know its not your "ball park" but do you happen to know if any of those allow a weight rating on top of the cover?

Retrax puts a low rating on theirs, but I've been exceeding it for over a year and I don't expect any issues. The rails with the built in tracks are stout.

The canister is the reason I didn’t go with the retrax. For me the setup I am putting together will be perfect. I think I’m going to finish it off with a Thule box for the roof of the truck and that should give me plenty of storage for both work and play. Can’t wait to get it all put together. Pics and impressions to come

WaterPort supplies a nice little mounting brackets. I used a 5/16" "drop in" fastener to attach it directly to the extruded aluminum crossbar of our rack.

Here is a link to the fasteners that I used: https://www.mcmaster.com/47065T327/

I have pretty much the same setup, except with the 18" rack. It's a slick setup. Super easy to open the cover with the rack installed.

    Looks great!!

I do have one suggestion for you though:

The rack width is adjustable, so you can make it a couple inches more narrow and get the feet to sit on the Retrax rails a little better.

It's fine the way it is, but you might like it a little better the way I suggested.

not sure if this would be the right place to ask, but have you ever thought about also making headache racks that could slot into the retrax?

    Hi OP,

Any plans for a July 4th sale? Just picked up a '13 Platinum with the Retrax RX and hoping to snag one of your aluminum racks.
