I also don’t understand that. A SR5 equipped like mine is WAY more expensive. And I don’t see the point. Less interior room, bed space, bigger turn radius, no way to get into the bed with the tailgate down. The SR5 dash is an after though. Still no trans cooler & no tow hooks. Toyota gave a new power train and body, but cut corners everywhere else on the truck, all at a premium price.

The interior room is better where you need it and less where you didn’t.

Bed space is negligible and is made up with the underseat storage the previous gen didn’t have.

Define “way more” because I see folks asking for 50-55k for their prior gen SR5 and a far more loaded and usable SR5 gen 3 can be had for about 58-60k.

I think all Tundras are ugly. The first generation looked like a bubble, the second is ugly and the third looks pretty bad too. It must not bug me too much though, I've owned two 1st gens and a 2nd gen.

At least they don't look like teslas cyber truck though.

I'm asking $85k for my 2019 Plat, lol. Completely loaded it was $47k new which is about what I could get. I think they cost considerably more now. But so does everything else.

When it is fully color matched and has mods it is my favorite looking truck on the road. Stock, I am not a fan. I feel exactly the same about the 2.5 gen.

Drastic change tends to have to grow on me. Too many angles/chisels/edges for me right now. I'm sure in a couple years, I'll think it's awesome. Like I used to not like 2nd gen, and now think they look great! OTOH, Nissan Frontier looked great prev, and new design, too. Nissan Titan won't ever be right to me...hood/grill about 1.25 scale of the remainder of the truck, to my eye. :)

When the first pictures came out I questioned the styling. As I see them on the street I am changing my mind. Not enough to buy one, I am happy with my 2013 Double cab and will drive it till (71 now) my driving days are over.

I am talking new prices. I paid $39k out the door for my 2020. Tell how much more actual usable stuff do I get for a $58-60 2022 SR5. As far as those asking $50-55, you can ask all you want, but like I said, “A fool and his money will soon be parted”. There is no way I am trading in a 20 for a 22, just because I want to keep up with the Jones. My 20 has underseat storage. For the CM there is a simple mod for it also.

A 2020 SR5 loaded was $48k sticker new. Cant compare what you paid 2-3 years ago to today. Sticker to sticker it’s about 8-9k difference and there’s a big difference between them aesthetically, mechanically, technologically and usability.

I’m glad you brought up the underseat mod because you can add a kick step and tow hooks to combat your nitpick

I'm with you 100%, but you waste too much energy on people in here. This forum is so odd, people can't just have and enjoy. I belong to several forums of various natures and not one of them do people act so weird and defensive towards something they don't like; as a matter of fact, I don't recall members of any of them visiting sub-forums to which they have no interest just to talk crap. They just don't buy it and move on. As I've said in other threads, there's a lot to psychoanalyze and unpack there. Though it has its share of faults, I enjoy my 22 and hope people enjoy their 19s, 20s, whatever they have as well.

For those with such strong contempt towards the 22, may I suggest not purchasing one and shielding your eyes like a child in a horror movie when you see one.

Yes I can compare because that’s what I paid and MSRP is the new price. And mine was $41k sticker. Not my problem if someone decides to pay MSRP. And please do tell me what great advances I get for those $8-9k. And I have a DC, no mod needed for underseat storage. And your right you can add a kickstep, but why. You would figure with a total redesign Toyota wouldn’t have skimmed out or should have made it more for a truck person instead of a grocery getter truck. The whole point of a redesign is to make it better and more useable. Since crap Toyota pulled with pulling the trans cooler, but that a whole other big issue.

Not trying to argue with you Brother for I can really care less. But your statement is exactly mirrored in the eyes of many non ‘22 owners. It’s very noticeable how defensive many ‘22 owners get over justifying the large ticket purchase. Just shows the diversity of society for many think this defensiveness is also odd.

BTW: I also belong to many forums and the diversity within those forums is very similar to this forum. It’s to be expected so it is what it is.

I understand what you're saying, though it doesn't affect me personally as I don't care what anyone thinks of me or what I like. For those who get defensive, I guess it's cause the negative comments are usually unwarranted and rarely even fit into the context of the thread. This particular one, certainly open for personal opinion, but in many threads someone pops up just to troll and be insultive, which makes some 22 owners defensive as they are proud of their new purchase. I think it's all silly, hate my truck, I don't care LOL!

Your DC isn’t fully loaded so I can’t use it for comparison. But a top out 2020 DC 4x4 was 47-48k, similar new gen is $55k.

Gen 3 for 8k gets better payload, better towing, better mpg, bette safety equipment, true OR features like HDC, crawl control, rear locker, 360 cameras, power passenger seat, heated seats, heated steering wheel, digital rear view mirror, better infotainment and sound, lane keep, adaptive cruise, bed lighting, bed power supply, trailer back up assistance. The value is there.

I belong to many forums and use the same name.

catch me on the lightning forums it’s comical. People call me sour because Ford is charging me more for a truck that is losing features monthly and isn’t hitting dates.

delayed build 3 times, finally got a blend date and it was over a week ago and nothing. My sticker price has gone up and I’ve lost ambient lighting and park assist so far.

oh and my pro charging station won’t be here in time. But I’m the bad guy because I said ford sucks lol

    I think what you may be missing on this forum is this;
When a group of guys get together, they like to rib and tease each other a bit..
Kind of a male bonding thing among friends..
And it isn't just the 2022 guys that get it, we have a few threads in which we hammer the shit out each other.
We rather enjoy the camaraderie and have a good time hanging out.

Perhaps some of the newer members shouldn't get their panties in a wad when someone simply gives them a hard time.
Either give it back or ignore it, don't get so butthurt about it.
There are several other Tundra forums if this one doesn't meet your needs..

Enjoy your time on YOUR other forums like Glo(ktalk.. <(see what I did there?):D:thumbsup:

I'm going to start stalking the 2022 problem threads just to prove you right.
Be safe and keep your rear wheels on.....

    I agree.
We're just bustin' balls, that's what friends do.
But SOME of these 2022 guys have little or no sense of humor and a stick up their collective asses.
Good for them if they have no issues with their 2022 Tundras.
But we non-2022 owners see new posts literally EVERY DAY about problems with the Gen 3s..

Maybe some of y'all should have given Toyota a year or 2 to work the kinks out..
    God Bless...........................

Way too many complainers on this forum. Im sick of them bashing other people's purchases because they want to justify not buying a new vehicle right now. I can't count how many '20 or '21 owners bash the new truck. Nobody is expecting you to trade in a 1 or 2 year old truck. Maybe they don't like it? Who cares. There's lots of new Tundra customers this new design has brought to the truck and instead of welcoming us to the board, you're nothing but insulting. Give your heads a shake.

I priced out a similar 22 to my SR5, it was about 5-6k more if I recall. That's not including that I have to pay MSRP. Towing is a joke to me. No 1/2 should be towing 10200lbs or 12000lbs (20 vs 22) top specs of course. Either one will tow your regular camper or boat the same. MPG is not a something to write home about, look at the thread on MPG, some disappointed people. Plus who buys a truck for MPG, get a Prius then. Safety, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), * Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), * Road Sign Assist (RSA) *, I have Lane dept with out steering assist, no LTA or RSA(whatever that does). My wife 20 Lexus has all the features of the 22 tundra, while its pretty nice, its really no diff than my 20, you still have to keep your hand on the wheel and make corrections, doesn't drive itself, yet. Offroad features are used in like 1-3% of the people who actually buy a tundra. Power passenger seat, lol, don't charge me $500 and keep your power passenger seat that never gets adjusted. 20 had heated seat option but not the steering wheel. To me almost all the stuff you posted has no value to me, especially at MSRP. If Toyota was dealing on the 22 like they did before then ok, but not worth it at MSRP. Like I said they cut corners to build a truck for 20 year olds that want all the fancy stuff they will never use but like to say they have it. I will eventually end up with a 3rd gen because my 20 won't last forever, or should I say I will grow tired of it. And I don't totally hate the truck. But Toyota should have had the same mentality when they made the 07, go big or go home. Now its all about phone chargers and USB ports.

Oh I see we’re looking at your value. Not in general. Then you’ll always win because you can just make up whatever.

Side note: that adjustable passenger seat is worth it because in the 21 I had, it sat way too high. It was a joke.
