What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

On the topic of the sway- (i read thru it all, no need to quote right?) I removed my front sway bar when I did my suspension, and left it off for a good month. Then i got the maxx links and put it back on. I drive pretty aggressive and rarely under the speed limit. I understand the point of removing the sway for trail/desert running, but on pavement, much more stability with it on. It's easy enough to just remove 1 link when tires hit dirt. I've pondered some type of quick release but havent acted on it. Like a heavy duty bicycle hub skewer or similar

No argument there. And removing a link on one side does it. My brake lines like to get intimate with my sway links, so I think about that as well. Of course, I can try to better route them. I'm of the opinion that the front sway bar is an asset almost all of the time. I'm still on the fence however, with where to go with it.

 

Well, I might have offered my 2nd spot up already. I think I did and he'll be pissed I don't remember. But, I bet if you want to make it happen, there is a way.

 

Funny thing is, I had it off and as loosey goosey as it was, I thought it was manageable. I didnt notice what a difference it made until i put it back on after driving a month without it. The loop around fwy onramps and offramps....

 

Which says a lot.

I embarrass myself sometimes. @FrenchToasty and I have a spot together. Funny, because I talk to him quite a bit. All-timers - I've been diagnosed.

 

Check out the local job market first. My degree is in IT, made more money as a Union janitor here than any every level jobs here.

Now I work in building maintenance but still Union.

Yes, it has held up! I got the idea from photos of used /repaired headlamps that are listed on FleaBay.

446 popped it's ugly head as it is Fu@k!n' hot again... opened gas cap and reset it... rechecked code... All gone...

Heat did not stop me from removing 'fish eye" mirrors.... don't mind them BUT these were fugly and scratched...Commercial hair dryers make quick work without any OOPS

Even got a from an F-150 original Harley-Davidson Platinum ( dam thing was ) his truck was rumbling at a traffic light when I pulled up and when we left the light the 4.7 kinda "rumbled" No "Kid $hit" just two old guys showing respect

Whomever owned this truck before me Spot-on spoiled it .... Complete new rear spring package,new shocks ,front and rear plus new throaty exhaust ...Luckily I can use $$$ for other "Stuff"

Came home to see the front strap on my fuel tank hanging. It's now temporarily held in place by a ratchet strap.

I don't mind buying OE parts but holy smokes aftermarket is under $60 for a pair of straps, Toyota is $150+

 

Kidding me? Home Depot has a metal strap with holes for less than $20. Could scrounge a slat of wood to widen the footprint of a 3/4” strip.

 

20$ sounds expensive, probably find it on the side of the road for free, just follow a plumber

 

you need 30 ft. The first 2 try’s are gonna be short.

Truth time: if it didn't need inspected I'd probably cut the extra off the ratchet strap and leave it.

 

Picked this beauty up a few weeks ago. First mod, get the headlights cleared up a bit

 

2nd mod- tint the front windows

 

3rd mod- take off the running boards. Preserve them for when I actually need them.

 

You'll never need those running boards, lol. First mod I did when I got mine was to remove those and sell them.

 

Yep, thought about that too. Sell them to buy other goodies for her. Or if I hit the jackpot, trade for a set of sliders or skids or both

 

I dunno, some folks tend to favor those over nerf bars. The paint-matched ones are a spendy commodity.

The one advice I'll give you is this: Don't lose the brackets and bolts. They're 1,000% unobtanium, and I've seen more frustration here from folks who've bought them used trying to get them mounted because the brackets were missing, or the hardware was missing, or both. The brackets are unusual, some are 2-piece, IIRC.

First thought when i saw your first post was 'nice truck, ditch the running boards', haha, kept scrollin for the 'atta boy'

 

We are brothers from different mothers given I have same. I personally believe your 4th mod should be to rid yourself of the wheel center caps and sell them to me....TIA
