With it being a cheaper costing system, I may put a procharger on the 3.8L JK when it's done....

Yeah, seems like it would have more smaller pieces than one big mamajama that you would have to hoist up to the top of the engine.

Doing an quick google search i can only find an article from Magnusson about supercharger vs procharger that had a graph overlay and the maggie had more power throughout the run (gotta take that with a grain of salt). I wonder at what rpm the procharger would really come alive. If its 5k rpm....not really practical for our trucks, but if its down at 2.5k rpm, then might be something to look at.

Hmm damn it. They USED to have an application for the 3.8L, but look like they only offer it for the newer 3.6L (2012+) models. Magnusson did the same thing. Oh well, guess it'll be an LS swap

Ok nevermind, RIPP still offers it. https://rippmods.com/products/2007-2011-jeep-supercharger.

The results were pretty interesting with almost +250HP difference.

It would like to see how much of a difference alleviating the restrictions on the air to air setup would have made (definitely not enough to close the gap).

The setup looked like a turbo set overall (attribute of a centrifugal S/C). Interesting that there were two blow off valves (if that is what they were) and they were both referencing the intake pressure before it hit the carb. Makes me wonder if the second valve was there for redundancy incase the first one failed (engine go boom boom).

I was intrigued by the ~12 A/F ratio...everybody wants 10's under boost. I guess this block is built for it.

he has a Magnusson SBC that is magical....

Didn't that have something to do with the fuels that were being used? He was talking about C-16 & Q-16 (I don't even know what those are...).

Doubt it. Pretty sure Magnuson and Harrop set those prices and are locked. Usually the case when you see the exact same price for them listed across every site.

it's never on sale. that's an old Indian trick.

once you get the blower, then this forum will guide you on how to spend an additional $5k on shit you never knew you needed.

My relay finally came in...fixing it later today. Although it been working like a charm since I rotated it.

We run rich afr since we have stock engines with a small ring gap and evidence that the rings can seize from too much heat. More fuel = less heat = happier rings. Afr can't just be randomly thrown around since it's specific to an engine and setup. Depending on how it's built, how much power he wants, tuning, fuels, etc. all are affecting it. Too much fuel is usually better than too little, which is why we usually run richer than most since our tunes are mostly a guessing game and trying to keep the stock internals happy.

I bought mine from Prospeed a year ago as of yesterday on sale for 7200 plus 200 for shipping. They were 7500 then, and the price is now 7750. With the material shortages I’m not sure there will be any sales in the near future but you never know.

Not that it matters for us, but it sounds like there could be group buy potential with whoever you purchased yours from. That’s a nice deal!

If you are getting the install done at a speed shop you can sign up to your local shop(s) site as well. Manufacturers usually notify installers of sales but may not do so with the general public.

I am hoping to see some Toyota dealership deals that would allow me to snag a TRD fit kit for around $2300. That was the cheapest price I was seeing around memorial day and it since went up to $2650.

Blower housings are pretty cheap usually, even buying a new fit kit you could easily come in below the price of a brand new blower, even if you sent it off to be refurbished.

That was my plan. I have never paid anyone to work on my vehicles (aside from warranty, yearly inspections, alignment, tint) until this supercharger. With 2 young kiddos, I have zero free time to set aside for this.

I went from a 20" wheel to a 17" wheel - 37 lb wheels and 61 lb tires to 19.5 lb wheels and 64 lb tires. Diameter increased from 33.2" to 33.9". I thought the 14.5 lb weight savings per corner would totally overshadow the .7" diameter increase. Nope, feels about the same to me. Guess I should have dropped down to 285/70-17s as well.

When the truck is already super heavy and has so much torque on tap anyway it’s probably hard to tell with the butt Dyno. It could be that the tire size changing the effective gear ratio has a larger effect than the rotating mass as far as throttle response goes. On a Miata or something I’m sure it’s very noticeable going to lighter wheels and tires.
