I have finally completed my chrome delete project on my truck and thought I would make one final post.
I personally don't mind the chrome on white and silver trucks, but on the red I found it jarring and much preferred the look of red/black exclusively. Here is what I did:
    1. Badge overlay kit ($140)
    2. Red handles ($400)
    3. Black tailgate handle garnish ($35)
    4. Black rear bumper "arms" ($115)
    5. Black lettering on tailgate ($60)
    6. Repainted mustache ($800)
    7. Decals on front grill and bumper ($20)
So a little over $1500 on a 65K truck and I go from not happy to very happy.

Got a lot of help from various threads, thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences.

Here are some pictures... still only 900 miles on it ($250 fill-up price means it is spending a lot of time in the garage while I run around in a Camry!)

Looks great! I'm going to gamble $100ish on the APA Vinyls Lunar Rock film to try and color match my Limited until I want to commit to the cost of painting/replacing... Planning to remove the Limited badges, the 4x4 badge and probably the TRD sticker on the bed to clean it up a little...

Please let me know how the TRD sticker removal goes. That is the last tidbit I shied away from because I was worried about damaging the paint.

I'll make a post when I get around to doing it... I've seen a few on here say theirs was super simple after sitting in the sun all day, and another who said the sticker basically shredded into pieces as they removed it, and ended up taking an eraser wheel to it...

I will probably try it on a hot day, and add a little extra heat if I have to, to hopefully pull it easily... Little goo gone and spray wax and call it a day...

My experience - I hired a local detailer that said he had done dozens and dozens of Toyotas and he thought it would be 15 minutes per side. My truck was about 2 weeks old at the time (2022 Limited) and it took him about 2 hours per side, at least. He said he would never agree to do another 2022+ Toyota again.

I like the look of yours without the sticker and may talk to a local detailer to get an opinion.
Sticker seems like a such a cheap way to brand an expensive vehicle. Can't figure Toyota out...

Thanks! I have always loved the look of debadged vehicles, even before the term debadge existed LOL. Good luck, hopefully your's come off much easier. I've taken stickers off before but I am SO glad I paid someone to do it this time. I watched him do some of it and the stickers were crazy hard to get off. I saved myself a few blisters LOL.

I can confirm..those off road stickers are awful to take off. I did it on a sunny 75 degree day and using a heat gun and it was a total pain in the ass. They just kept breaking apart in little pieces no matter what technique I tried...I hope you have better luck lol.

I seriously think they changed adhesives for the stickers on the 2022 models.

    Your truck looks nice.
Color-matched is the only way to go on a 2022.

^ 3M eraser wheel is the way to go.
No way would I take a heat gun to Toyota's crappy paint as mentioned in previous posts..
One member heated up his emblems and the paint came off with it.

There are cheaper ones, but I used a 3M.
    Amazon.com: 3M Stripe Off Wheel 07499, 4 in x 5/8 in : Automotive

This guy says the cheaper ones work just fine..

    https://youtu.be/DvXD_O6GL_0

I removed my TSS decal the day I bought my 2014 home..
It was also great for removing residue from badge removal..
Used heavy fishing line to floss the emblems off.

Several youtubes to show you how to do it..

    *****STICKERS *****
    Final final post on this...
Went to a highly rated pro auto detailer to get the TRD decals removed this morning.
On the phone he said "Sure, no prob, do it all the time. Have you in and out in 40 min."
About 15 min he said "holy cow, these are the toughest stickers I have ever seen in 20 years"
    Much swearing ensued.
Took him an hour and 45min to get them off and polish the area!
I am SO glad I did not attempt this myself.
But now chrome and sticker delete are complete and I am a happy camper.
    Cheers

That's odd. I had zero issues taking my stickers off. Took 15min a side. Truck sat in sun all day 85ish. And then cold peeled them, no heat gun, in the evening. Had very little residue that came off very easy.

Yes... the handles took about 2 hours for all four. Followed that video step by step and had no problems. Definitely get the right tools from harbor freight or amazaon.

Wondering if I could order 4 sample sheets of APA Lunar Rock and knock out my handles to at least get a feel for wrapping... Will have to measure them to see if 4x8 piece will cover...

That IS strange that yours came off so easy. Were yours ones that are like these? Maybe they are sourcing from various suppliers and mine came from the one that uses some super adhesive. The ones I had could not be peeled... the top layer came off in little flecks and then the adhesive layer was soaked in goo remover multiple times and scraped. Then the guy did a polish on the area. He said he had never seen anything like mine in over 12 years of detailing and had expected it to take 15 min tops... I feel sorry for the next guy that brings the next 22 Tundra to him!

FYI I tried wrapping my handles in black before I bought the red handles. It was my first time trying to wrap and I had some issues. Not easy to get the wrinkles out on the rear part of the chrome handle. From a distance it was passable, but up close you could see a newb had attempted it. In the end, decided I did not want black and ordered the matching handles (no red wrap matches the ss red). Just fyi...wrapping not as easy it as it appears in Youtube videos.

Problem I'm having is that Toyota hasn't released color matched for Lunar Rock yet... I thought about just ordering the flat black SR/SR5 ones, but if I'm going to spend $350+ I'll wait until the color match comes and throw a few more bucks at them...

I've been watching a ton of videos and I'm sure it's not nearly as easy as they make it look haha... But for less than $10 worth of vinyl, figured might be a nice trial and error evening... I'm just not sure how long the handles are, and if those 4x8 pieces would cover... I'll have to measure them tonight...

Did the dreaded TRD OffRoad 4x4 sticker removal today. It took about 20 minutes per side in 90 degree weather with just a rag, goo gone, and a pair of pliers. If done slowly and carefully, one can peel most of the sticker off whole. The hardest part was using elbow grease and goo gone to finish pulling off the adhesive. Truck looks much better now.

Update: truck sat in 95° direct sunlight all day… tried each of the bed stickers starting with the “T” and was only getting top layer… Now I’ve got two starting to peel stickers on the truck haha… will try a heat gun this weekend at some point, and pull off the rest of the badging…

also, the sample sheets of APA vinyl are no where near big enough for the handles… didn’t realize how damn big those handles actually are…

Yep mine were exactly like that. Just got lucky I guess. Or since they came off so easy may have started to peel anyway down the road.

Good looking double cab! I like the red color. I always de-badge my vehicles, I like the clean look.
