Pickup bed lean…bad leaf bushing, shock?

Or ... you brought awareness to what otherwise would leave people scratching their damn heads, rebuilding their front suspension, etc.

 

Which I started to do.

 

If anything, you brought some attention to lurking problems with 20 year old trucks.
I didn't have time to mess with it over the last couple days, but it'll have to be addressed soon. When I jacked up the truck, it almost immediately started to re-align the cab with the bed.
I replaced the front cab mounts when I installed the frame repair caps from Autorust.com, but didn't do the rears...

I just have to find a rear mount now...

 

Does Autorust not carry? Are the rear and fronts not swappable, where you can use the passenger front at the driver rear or ??

 

My apologies.. My physical steel mounts are fine, the actual rubber isolator is what failed. I bought a new isolator from a dealer in Lakeland Fla. this morning, along with the new hardware. So, once it shows up, I'll take photos and document in my main thread.

I'm pretty sure those replacement mounts from Autorust are swappable front to back, if needed..

 

I’ll be interested in how you plan to lift the side of the cab by at least 3 inches to get it in there and whether you have to do anything to not damage any brake lines.

 

I think you'd be shocked at how little is holding that cab down. Most single-cab vehicles only have 4, sometimes 5 bolts holding the cab on and there's a fair amount of wiggle room, 4-6", if you pop off a couple of bolts. Access cab, maybe 6 bolts? Double I'm assuming has 7-8? @Richid had some good feedback on the last page, here.

 

Well I am curious about how much leeway is available from the brake lines at the master cylinder to the frame rails. I don’t have ABS so no worry there.

Also, does the front mount near the radiator hinder you from lifting the cab at all? At first glance it looks like they’re joined together (cab and engine bay).

 

I can't say in your specific situation. But of the trucks I've had, the front clip is bolted to the cab. As long as you remove the front and rear cab mounts on one side, there's no other contact point. YMMV on a 1G Tundra, I've never had to do it before. It sounds like @Richid has though

Like @shifty` said, I'll be removing the bolt for the front right mount as well, which will give me plenty of wiggle room to get the mount in there. Just jack up the right side of the cab and go to town... no brake lines to worry about on that side.

 

This is more reassuring since I didn’t want to set myself on fire cutting those nuts off next to the gas tank.

For removal of rusted bolts and nuts without torch try a Chinese ZVS induction coils. These coils can heat without flames as long as your can reach the coil over the rusted bolt or nut. You have to bend the leads of the coil to fit the connections. Bend the leads so the coil is off to one side so it will fit over nuts easier. You can heat and cool, with ice or water or PB blaster, several times for really rusty bolts. I use a 12V car battery and a inline switch to the circuit board. I wear gloves because the circuit board will heat up. Let the circuit board cool down if it gets to hot.

Looks like my bracket does fit an 02 Tundra unlike @HAL69000 ’s Tundra. So maybe no bracket modification necessary.

No more pickup cab lean and I can drive it without gritting my teeth going over a pothole or bump in the road. Problem solved!

Oh.... This is a fascinating story so far....

I ordered the parts through ToyotaPartsdeal.com back on June 21st. On Thursday, the 7th, I called the dealership in Lakeland Fla. and asked "Where's my stuff, eh?" I give them the order number, and I hear muffled talking, someone says "No, he's on the phone now", I'm then put on hold for a minute, the guy comes back on and says "looks like we were waiting on the bolt you ordered and it appears that it just showed up, so your order will ship out tomorrow"

So, my gut tells me the parts were in stock and they somehow missed the order, but in any case, I'll have the mount and new bolt in a few days. The truck has been sitting in my garage for the last 2 weeks just waiting for the parts to show up.

I'll update my thread once parts are in hand.

 

These coils can only fit 5/8" diameter max. The bigger the nut or bolt the more power you need. So this works better on smaller nuts.
These coils will not get nuts as hot as a torch, but are helpful when near things you don't want burnt.

 

Rear passenger shock failing?

Bed looks straight to the cab now, but driver side rear looks high.

 

Yeah, those (new shocks) are still waiting an install. I forgot to bring the sawzall with me when I went to do the body mount. That’ll be another time in the next week or two.

 

Coming into the thread late - but when you replaced your cab mounts, do you have to unbolt all of them and then jack up the cab or did you do one by one?
