One more, from today....

 

So, I decided to reduce the herd. Sold two bikes and picked up this hot 40 year-old yesterday. That's still a reduction, right?

 

I almost bought a 1982 CB900 in 1984! Great bike! I'm thinking that is a 1982 with the shiny edge Comstar wheels.

 

40 year old bikes are the theme of the day then. I was recently given this ‘82 Yamaha XJ1100 in non-running condition. Let’s just say I spent a pile of time on the ol’e beast, and it’s running well now, and the many electrical issues seem to all be sorted out.



A few details to tidy off and it should be ready to ride. It certainly has some patina, and will need cosmetic lovin’ as time goes on like seat upholstery, replace the aging front tire…

I went and wrote the test this morning and now have my MC learner’s license.



I’m collecting gear, and have to register and insure the bike tomorrow.

 

BMW R1200R and my Tundra long bed - a match made in heaven. I can close the tailgate after loading it on......

 

Nice! I really wanted to check out Croom when I was driving from Charleston to Anna Maria Island but was short on time. What's it like there? Good trails/roads for the trucks?

 

No truck trails. Just motorcycle and ATVs.
But nice trails for those. Some very sandy areas and other wooded areas.

 

Please share info about the rig you load the motorcycle on the truck with. That looks very interesting.

 

Husband’s new Tenere just came in. Was planning on riding it when his hip heals from surgery. He got a call the day after finding out hes going in for shoulder surgery too so there goes the riding season.

Still waiting on my Desert Sled. Was supposed to be showing up in two weeks, that was six weeks ago. Just called and now its mid-July.

 

Just seeing this thread now. Figured I'd add to it!

2012 Victory Cross Roads (bought it new, 22K miles now) and 2008 Victory Vegas Jackpot (since sold, but was an awesome bike!)

 

That bike will be good motivation for the PT and doing the recovery correct. Congrats to him on the bike, and hope his surgeries leave him feeling better than ever.

 

I bought that from Ultimate Power Ramp - Motorcycle Loading, Motorcycle Hauling . It wasn't cheap but it really fit the bill for me. I needed a loading/unloading system that I could do single-handedly without any pants-wetting moments. The engineering on this thing is world-class. I purchased the optional removable extension to get it out over the tailgate. After the bike is loaded, the extension pops off and goes in the truck for use in unloading. Thing works like a dream.....

 

Def appreciate the good vibes. He took it around the neighborhood (dirt camp roads on the lake) and absolutely loves the thing, surprising where he came off a Street Glide and F6B Goldwing. Year and a half of surgeries, that boy needs another bike for his troubles. He said the same, that it gives him something to look forward to when hes not crippled anymore so alls well that ends well.

 

Thank you!! That is a really cool ramp loading system. Very interesting to see the photos that others have sent in with their unique applications. Under-storage for an RV and on the back of a semi truck. Really cool stuff.

 

The morning started out nice, in the afternoon I got rained on like a hundred different times. Got hailed on at one point too, that shit hurts! I had some forest roads planned, but by the time I got there it was already raining and I didn't want to have a mud wrestling contest with the bike, it has about a 3.5x weight advantage over me...

 

Wait... is that a KTM that isn't orange? I'm so confused.

 

I put orange hand grips on it..., but ya, I know. All of that model where white though.

 

I think it looks better in white anyway.

 

My brother is an avid bass fisherman. One day he's in shallow water down an embankment from a country back road here in San Diego.
He sees an orange glow beneath the water's surface and wonders ~ what could that be ?

I think that's why KTM paints their machines Orange. That makes 'em easier to see when you "throw your bike away" at speed and it slides down the hill and into the lake.
