I have a 2018 CrewMax SR5 and just picked up a used set of OEM TRD wheels/tires. I purchased from a person that is the second owner and he wasn't sure what year they came from. He also assumed that still have the OEM TPMS sensors in them which I also think is right because they have the OEM Michelins tires with over 60% tread on them.

After installing them I got the expected TMPS light on my dash. How would I go about trying to figure out if the TPMS sensors on these TRD wheels are compatible with my 2018? I've heard that at least the 2017 and 2018 have different SNs. With one year having 7 digits and the other having 8 digits. Is it possible to interchange TPMS sensors form different years?

I am thinking about buying the Autel TS508 of ebay but not sure if it's even worth it if there is a risk that these TMPS sensors are not going to be compatible with my year Tundra.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks,

You can do the reset/register process that is in your owner manual. Done it more than once with mine when they had fits.

I think 2020 & 2021 are the model years that use a different frequency from the 2014-2019 models. But your dealer can figure it out if the reset function (found in your manual) doesn't work.

I tried to do the TPMS reset but no luck. I guess I'll have to take it to the dealer to see what the can do.

At this point, it doesn't really bother me all that much, I just hate lights on the dash. I may just wait until I get different tires to look into the TMPS sensors.
