5000 mile Maintenance"Alert"

So I am coming up on 5000 miles and my local dealer messaged me about scheduling a maintenance appointment (which I did), but soon after my truck's info screen keeps displaying "Maintenance Required" message....at first it just did it at start up and then disappeared.

Now it seems to think that I don't care and is completely replacing the info screen on the dash with MAINTENANCE REQUIRED until I cancel it out.

If anything this is annoying...anyone else experiencing this annoyance?

On the gen 2.5's you cancel this by: setting the "odometer" to tripometer A before you turn the engine completely off; then you press and hold the tripometer knob and turn the key to accessory; the screen will beep and it displays something like "resetting maintenance information;" hold the tripometer knob until the display tells you it is done resetting the f'n maintenance nag.

On these gen 3's you might have to get permission from Microsoft or Oracle to reset the nagging and obnoxious maintenance WARNING!

 

Key on/off, push and hold buttons, screen? Surprised you don't need to download the latest Java update. Jeebus, the 2.5 gens are basically Big Brother. My '05 has no screen or maintenance reminder crap. Real trucks don't have any of that. Damn progress!

 

The 5k “maintenance” is just a tire rotation and inspection. Your dealer may require it but it can be skipped usually. You can clear the reminder in the “Vehicle Settings” section of the settings menu (the gear icon) on the center information display. There’s also a reset for the oil maintenance but that interval adjusts based on your driving (10k is max). You can check the mileage left to oil maintenance by cycling through the odo/trip and looking for the mileage number with the wrench next to it.

 

Yep. My 1997 T100 is still very happy with me posting the next engine oil change mileage on a wall hung white board in the garage.

 

Well, just reset it. I don't see why this is such a big deal.

On mine it blinks every startup at 4500miles and stays on after 5000miles like a check engine light.
