What she lacks in size she more than makes up in attitude!

There was a second turkey vulture to the right (didn't catch it in the photo), she was trying to maneuver into position to fight them both at the same time. lol. She made them really nervous and they took off!

Some flying squirrels up in this tree...they wouldn't come down so she went to them.

Our Onyx can't help the urge to lay on the laundry - even when it's still in the dryer and I'm trying to fold it.

For some reason the kids enjoy helping with the laundry. Here they are camping out atop some warm, fresh towels just out of the dryer.

In the olden days my compadre's wife would run the dryer and leave the door open. Not all the clothes were completely dry so she'd close the door and restart the machine.
Clunk, clunk, clunk ~ the dryer was making a lot of noise. Come to find out their Calico kitty, Missy Ann, had hopped up into the dryer and gone for a ride !
Just be careful out there ~ it could happen to anyone !

Our dryer door is normally shut. Bear is the one I worry about because he likes to sleep in the clothes washer when it's empty. I can just visualize my Mother-in-Law giving the little dude a wash without knowing it.

Brought this terror home today to add some company for Ginger. 4 and 6 year olds named him “Stoney” (because his color reminds them of rocks, duh)

Thank you. Wish I could have some big cats. I had a good friend in High School who had exotic animals. His family often had big cats. You never get to appreciate how small you truly are when around those powerful beasts.

However…we have plenty of wild big cats around here.

I grew up with dogs. I've always had a dog. Then along comes my wife who is highly allergic to dogs. She has always had cats. She convinced me to adopt this little girl that refused to leave our doorstep. She is a perfect 1st cat! The wife named her Mocha.

    20210729_163600.jpg

Roughly 10 months after adopting Mocha our little Onyx wiggled her way into our hearts and home.

    100MEDIA36IMAG0421.jpg

I am now a full fledged cat guy and proud of it.

Our fabrication shop (I work for a mechanical/piping contractor) cut it out on our Vernon 5-axis plasma pipe cutter. It’s 36” Schedule 40S stainless, and the scallop pattern gives you a handy place to rest your marshmallow stick without it rolling off into the dirt. :D
There are four oval slots near the bottom of it that are 2” by 4” that allow for intake air to come in through the gaps in the pavers.

If I was to do it over, I’d have gone with 24” or 30” instead of 36” (it makes for a pretty big fire), but this was a remnant they had from a job so that’s what I got.

On the other end of my property, I have a piece of 66” steel pipe that we use for burning limbs and debris. It keeps all the embers and ash contained inside and if I hook up a leaf blower to a piece of 3” dryer duct stuck through the side, I can get a flame vortex going about 20 feet high (and can burn down a massive pile in a matter of a couple hours).
