TRD dual exhaust

For us Canadians there is a 'TRD dual exhaust' dealer installed addon available, anyone know what this actually is? From some pics I've found it appears to be a catback and new tip but dealer doesn't seem to know, they haven't seen one. Its just under $600CAD installed. see pic. Anyone seen one of these?

In the US it’s $375 installed but there’s no photo on the build website for us. Your post is the first time I’ve seen it. It only became available recently, earlier in the year it wasn’t available as an option. I’m getting it with my 2022 1794 (next one in line at my dealership) and that price is installed. And yes, it’s a cat back, just like the one on my 2007 Tacoma but mine only has a single chrome exhaust tip unlike the Tundra’s dual tip.

Those look awesome and by the picture the pipes are black also. Wish those were available in Texas, dumped out each side and available in true dual cat backs for the models before 22

 

I don't have specific information about it. They haven't put them into the accessory catalog for us yet. When Toyota does an exhaust, it is typically just a cat-back. On the '22, it would most likely be the Y pipe and muffler, and a new tail pipe. For $400, though, it might just be the tail pipe. That's extremely cheap.

 

Seems too cheap to be a legit, cat-back, dual exhaust. Makes me wonder if it's just a Y-splitter with dual tips.

My salesman said it IS a cat back, but we all know they aren’t right most of the time……

 

if it's like the previous gen, which i suspect it is, there are two different part numbers for a complete cat-back system. One is the section after the y-pipe and contains the mufflers. The second half is after the mufflers, called the tail pipe section. That section you can usually get in different flavors like chrome, or black chrome tailpipe tip. Just the tailpipe section from toyota is $500 so no way is the entire cat-back $600 installed

 

Is it possible Toyota just used high flow mufflers stock as what would be in a cat back system for better breathing with the turbos? Just wondering……

 

I have been waiting on this…hoping for the full system but you are right as I think it was like ~$1500 or something for the catback system on the previous gen?

 

Possible. You will need to find out if the 3rd gen TRD Tail Pipe section is true dual pipes, because the TRD cat-back on the second gen is. I don’t have my Tundra yet but this diagram is from Toyota Parts for a 2022 1794. Looks like there’s only one muffler and tailpipe. And it appears there’s a resonator on the tailpipe? Could that be a restriction that the TRD exhaust replaces for lower restriction? Perhaps someone with a 2022 can verify.

 

There is a resonator on the tailpipe that would be gone.

When I was looking for the TRD dual exhaust for my 20 it was a bit confusing on Toyotas part. The description made it seem like it was the whole cat-back system for around $5-600. Turns out the system is split into 2 part numbers, each costing around the same. So don’t expect much from a TRD product at $3-400.

 

Yeah, pretty sure it is a two part system like the previous TRD exhaust.

 

As in cat-back? I don’t think so. Not for $375.

As we assumed, dealer confirmed it is back of muffler only. So basically a pipe and dual tip only
