What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

So when I had a gas powered trike……. Instead of using pvc sleeves, which where thin and wore out fast, Hdpe was the kittens mittens! You could find it in 3/4 wall I think and it would drift for days and not take much off the overall diameter of the sleeve.

So I didn't do a build thread of my rig but I definitely should have. All I can say is so far I love the stance and ride quality with m setup. Also I have airbags so when I tow I bearly have any squat. I'll try and get a picture tomorrow without my trailer.

On top. The higher you mount a camera, the better the perspective, unless you are looking for something on the ground!

 

Kk, my thoughts too but my Taco has it below. We will see how it mounts if I ever get to it. A little annoying to run the camera cable through the hood.

also today I learned that when adding a MH tailgate panel you should leave the stock access panel intact.

 

Wait till you knock up slippery sally, then DC are perfect for kids! Minus this back door that takes out ankles on flat ground!

 

My stock panel smashes the rods for the handle. I really don’t want that again. Spacers? I will try and see I guess.

 

It’s an idea, but easy to swap if the bracket I have will work on this grille. Looks like it should. Bought it for the taco but after I drilled and too lazy to swap because what works isn’t worth messing with.

You might be in repeat or have a frequency offset. I only know how to program these on a computer, even that is voodoo.
Simplex (direct) sends and receives on same freq. Repeat or other shit uses 2 frequencies. 1 send, 1 receive. You are transmitting on a different frequency than receiving, or there is some mode that scrambles your send.

Edit 2, I now have the operation manual, 88 pages, this is actually a versatile radio. Pretty standard stuff, I need to next check out the Programming Software, that's usually the painless way to set this thing up. Once you figure out how easy it is to program, not a problem. Hardest part is figuring out what the column headers mean.
I think you think you hate it because it looks complicated, That happens to a lot of folks. One of the aspects of the old job was instructing folks how to use a radio!
If you can drive, build/rebuild Tundras, do mods, then drive on/off road, then party & camp, and your still alive.. you can figure out radio!

@daveeasa I agree with Erik on this one, and I gotta say, I think this insert looks (1) way better than the other you had, (2) far better on the earlier years with the oval opening like yours versus the upside-down horseshoe shaped insert like mine, and (3) I lefitimately don't even think you need to paint the damn thing, but I'd love to see someone vinyl-wrap the outer ring, and maybe the inner stripe, just for a reversible 10ft "what it'd look like" for others to see.

PS - @daveeasa you need to take some of this stuff to your trim. It works better than any of the other products I've tried.

 

The plastic grille is also much lighter than the IS one. It’s a keeper for sure. Trying to decide if I want to put some anti-seize on the threads or not. I could see doing the letters a different color, black on black perhaps.

Which trim specifically?

Front bumper is going to get tossed as soon as I can get an order in. I’ll try to call again today.

Side moulding I may remove, not sure. Looks good with no moulding on others.

I have bushwacker fender flares and new heated mirrors which are color matched rather than chrome, just need to install.

Also new mud guards and inner splash liners, in the bed, waiting patiently.

I don’t think there is much black trim to rehab? The rubber bed mat I suppose but I plan to use it as a template if I can get a single piece of mat at a trailer supply store.

 

I rub on the firewall, need more co adjustment. TC uca’s.

 

Ehh not really. Ill try a 91 tune if I get the time and see if that makes any difference. I would hope that Unichip would throw a bit of timing at it with higher octane fuel but you never know.
