I have a 21 TRD Pro. In a few weeks Ill be dropping my daughter off at camp. This means putting her camp trunk in the bed of the truck. What can I install so that her trunk doesn't slide towards the cab so i can reach it from the tailgate. i go fishing alot too so this would be helpful keeping my fishing gear near the tailgate area.

I use short pieces of rope and tie to the d rings in the back corners of the bed near the tailgate.

I tried the DIY route to save money....it didn't work for me.

The OEM bed divider is what I have now and it's amazing.

I just cut a 2x8 to length and dropped it into the notches about 20 inches in front of the tailgate. Fixed with no adjustability but works great most of the time, and quite cheap.

I don’t tie much down. With a bed liner nothing really moves. And if it does the bed is 5’5” long. Not like it’s a half mile walk to the cab to fetch the trunk!

I do the same with an old scrap 2x4 which sits across the bed behind the wheel wells most of the time. If I need adjustability, I have two HF load bars.

Pick up an adjustable load lock and you can secure items anywhere you need to in the bed.

I understand the convenience of keeping cargo near the tailgate, but in the event someone rear ends you I have to believe there's a better chance the cargo ends up in your cab. Jmo.

Having said that, there are two notches 2" apart on both sides of your bed, 18" back from the tailgate. It looks like you could slide a 2x4 or 2x6 cut to fit tightly in that spot as a stop. Or you could lash it to the hooks at the back of the bed.

I have a rubber bed mat and it works under most conditions. Mine is the Toyota mat with 'Tundra' on it, but there are others. Hitting the brakes hard will still cause things to slide forward, but I don't do that very often. I have seen a piece of 2x6 used. If you cut it to the correct length it fits in the slots on the sides of the bed just behind the wheel wells.

My bedrug mats pretty much keep things in place.
Of course, if you slam on the brakes items will go forward.

I drove 11 miles, 9 of them highway, to Walmart with my tailgate down and my Dewalt impact driver and a few other tools on the tailgate.
I forget they were back there and that the tailgate was down when I left..
I realized it was down when I backed into a parking space and saw the tailgate was down in the camera.
Everything was still right where I left it.
My wife still teases me about it..

Makes tailgating nice and it is quite the knee saver in the bed.

They're all good good options. Just saying a shower rod is very cheap and easy to find. I have zero issues with that cargo bar lol

I do what's described in the quote above. Plus, on occasion I use a bed extender that's rotated inside the bed. Works great.

I use a cargo bar. It was like 20 bucks at Home Depot and I have zero issues with it. Say what ya want but you can't wratchet tighten a shower rod. The setup keeps all my rain gear and fishing stuff dry, out of the way, locked up and easily accessible. I don't care how it looks because it's covered up anyways.

ratchet strap from rear left hook to rear right hook? (works well enough for me, but obviously won't hold in a crash..though I doubt much would)

I added the rubber bed mat & use the Heninger Cargo bar. Everything stays put. I like my tool box at the back and had it strapped and it kept falling over when I hit the brakes a little to hard. Got the bar and no problems at all. It’s a beast. Made for full size trucks.

Yes it will. All you have to do is place the mount hardware with the adjustment knobs down vs up.

Nope! It took ten mins and like 40 bucks for this setup. The tote was around 15-20 and the bar was around 20-25. I literally bought and put it on in the parking lot of Home Depot
